Replace Weapons for Mod Units

Today I tried to get IFA3 (A WW2 mod) working. It has many low resolution weapon textures, but I know that for example one of the RHS add-ons has an M1 Garand in excellent quality. Thus my question - what would be the easiest way to edit IFA3 units to use the RHS Garand instead of the default one?

What your missing is that in January IFA3 updated all the textures of all the assets except the US faction, that is why your seeing low rez textures.

Formally IFA3 was labeled IFA3_AIO_Lite before this update.

 

which stands for IFA3 ---> Iron Front in Arma 3

(was from a game called Iron Front: Liberation 1944, IFA3's assets are from the game, and more were created and added).

AIO ----> All in one

which means the mod contains all objects, units, weapons, tanks, planes, terrains ect,.

Lite ----> was low rez textures because based on license with the publisher, ect,. they were allowed if im not mistaken only low rez textures with the content.

Now since that update in January which i posted the changelog, IFA3 is now labeled IFA3_AIO and it has high resolution textures, however as said

the American faction which is actually from the DDay DLC for the game Iron Front: Liberation 1944

did not get the high resolution textures, i believe they are still working on those.

 

After that update in January, in February they updated the winter assets of the mod to high rez textures.

What you can do is place a squad down of the USA faction that would have garands, then right click a unit

and go to edit loadout, this will put you in the arsenal for that unit, then just swap his gun out with the RHS Gref garand and dont forget

to change the magazines too.

 

After that save and use that mission as a template, so when you play a mission just copy and paste those units with the replaced weapon

just be sure to have the RHS Gref mod loaded otherwise the gun will go missing when you load your mission.

Yeah, that makes sense, thank you for your reply. What I wanted to do was to find config files for IFA units and replace the cfgVehicles of soldiers, so they will initially spawn with modded weapons. I wanted that for f.e. Dynamic Recon Ops, where you can't modify enemy loadouts and it wouldn't be cool for me to find enemy weapons looking like they were imported from Arma: Cold War Assault. I managed to do that, f.e replaced some weapons with RHS as mentioned above, for other guns i used Faces of War. Then I stumbled upon another problem - there are still factions like UK Desert Rats and Us Army Winter, which have those low resolution textures. How could I hide them in the editor? I managed to find core_c assets in IFA3 files and edited the names of those factions to something like "Z1" so they appear at the bottom of editor factions, but how could I hide them completely? I know there is a "scope=" parameter for factions, but I couldn't find it in any of the IFA faction config files. If you could help me with this, I'd be eternally grateful.

About all i can tell you is open the configs, seems your on the right path by putting the factions

at the bottom of the list so dig further open the config.bin with unrap and look at the codes, see if you can

locate the factions there, and look for any code that may indicate hiding them.

     There is a mod i know of Kju created it, it hides all vanilla assets in the editor, if you can take the same concept you could do the same

for the factions you want. Take a look at his mod here https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1088231264

        Maybe ask Kju himself since he knows how to hide the vanilla assets he probably could tell you how to hide those factions too.

Hes the lead dev of IFA3 btw.
