theavonlady 2 Posted February 9, 2003 Wouldn't it be nice to be able to have a global folder where you could store music, radio, voice and other audio files used by OFP missions, instead of embedding them in the mission's PBO files? That way, audio files could be downloaded separately and reused by mission makers.

I doubt they would - to much hassle with the copyrights.<span id='postcolor'> BIS would be no more responsible for the user created contents of this repository than they currently are for users inserting copyrighted music into missions. This just makes it easier for players to maintain a collection of such files and mission to access them. So, if you have a popular song that is used by 20 different user made missions, there would be just one copy of the song's OGG file in the repository and 20 missions, with much smaller PBOs, that access the file. Currently, those 20 user made missions would each have a copy of the OGG file in their SOUND subdirectory. Users could build up a sound effects, voice, radio chatter and music file inventory and mission downloads would wind up being much smaller than many of them are today. Mission makers would see what's popular and get ideas to reuse those popular audio files in new missions.
