matyboy 0 Posted February 9, 2003 HI guys martin here just a comment for PiNs_Da_Smoka first before you slag of someones many hours of work, find out the facts on which you are commenting on. first the UZI is attached because if it was not you wouldn`t have a weapon on board that you could fire in flight. remember it is a helicopter. Secondly if you eject, the uzi will stay with the jetpack as in all helicopters. and also there are more than one model that can be seen, its called level of detail models, when you eject and the model gets further away from you see a less detailed model it helps the oxygen engine run faster. it all depends how you have ofp setup and what computer spec you have. the slower it is the more lower detailed models you will see,the faster it is the more the higher detailed models you will see..ok thats why they call the models LOD`s. I have tested the addon with many people, and know one as complained of missing textures and shaking. There is a little bug ,don`t fly to fast is a bit skitey and might go out of control its to do with the way oxygen controls an object like helicopter geometry and that the geometry on the jetpack has been greatly reduced in size and there for stability is not as good. please don`t slag off my work because I might just not bother doing any more....... By the way it might be time to spend some money on that system of yours does not sound all that good... martin.
Mister 5 0 Posted February 9, 2003 No! Martin, please! PiNs is only expressing some constructive criticism, and although his weapon argument didn't make any sense, he is trying to give advice as to how to make your addon even better . I for one love your addons, and I think they're really well done and fun to play around with. PiNs wasn't trying to insult your hard work. I'm sure many people would be deeply saddened if you stopped making addons, especially with that nice jetranger on the way.
Bronski 0 Posted February 9, 2003 I love the jetpack as well as the other models Martin has released. It would be a great shame if he stopped making models. So please keep up the awesome work martin.
Major Fubar 0 Posted February 9, 2003 Cool addon. I am planning to make a TDM map using all sorts of nifty toys like this, the Dragonfly, Dune Buggy etc. Nice one! Small suggestions: have the uzi with a 32 round mag and have to keep reloading. Also, would it be possible to get a jet effect coming from the pack, like the heat distortion on the Skyhawk addon when you use afterburner?

Wait for a couple of weeks and you'll get it Not flying as smoothly as Martin's, but at least you can use your personal weapons while flying

Believe it or not, the one used in the Bond film is real and it actually flies! Only for 30 seconds and not higher than 9m, but it does fly. There are later, better working jetpacks as well. Johann "onn" Bitsoenn 0 Posted February 9, 2003 The problem with shaking of Jetpack is caused by OFP engine, wich handle very-light-choppers not correctly... Actually, chopper-engine does not work correctly for any chopper :] But with light ones it makes them rotating in so many ways... Anybody remembers Da Vinci's Airscrew and the way it was landing? Same with the Hot Air Baloon addon... No point to blame Martin for it :] Martin, treat posts like PiNs' one as mail from beta-tester, noticing bugs... Actually, most of posts in newly released addon's section are about bugs in addons, do not feel offended anyhow because PiNs had a good intentions :] As for myself: very good addon, as all your addons (I mentioned before that I love to fly 007 jet ). Only issue found by me is that russian jetpack is armed with UZI... but... as far as this addon is for mostly fun (jetpacks are not used in army), this little lack of realism is TOTALLY no problem :] I've tested it in an editor, I've noticed that aaguns such as Vulcan and choppers such as RAH-66 (these I used to test) controlled by AI are barely not able to shoot down jetpack... but it is AI problem, I have no problems as gunner :]

But even if it is "attached", you're not carrying the XM while your flying, so where does it come from? At least let you eject with the Uzi as if you took it off, just saying "its attached" is stupid.<span id='postcolor'> same as BAS MH-6 Armed, a flying MP5 sticks when u disembark... matyboy 0 Posted February 9, 2003 Hi martin please remember the addon was for full only i did say that. its for people just to hve fun with it ,in deathmatch games and alike, but it seems that every time i release a addon like this people say how stupid something is,or how it is nothing like that in real life,or its unlealistic...etc I wish people would just play it,for what it is. And stop moaning, it is for free!!!. thanks for all you nice emails and the belljet is waiting textures..... and will be finished soon.. And then people can say........ martin... PiNs_Da_Smoka 0 Posted February 9, 2003 *giggles* Martin, take the words of what everyone else said, what i said was just contructive criticism. About the gun being attached, i realize that, and i know you wouldn't be able to fire it while flying. I know how O2 works, you don't have to tell me. My point was, that when you eject, i think it would be a little better if when you ejected, you got the uzi, regardless of it actually being attached. And about the bars being untextured. I'll be the first to admit that my computer is a piece of shit. But, that shouldn't make a difference. Just because my computer sucks doesn't mean that it won't show textures. It MAY show a different LOD at times, but only on really hi-res models. The point is, even if for some reason when i'm in first person, it might show a different LOD, it still doesn't have textures on the bars. Or hey, maybe the textures are just gray, exactly the kind of gray that untextured objects appear as in OFP. Who knows. But as i said, textures aren't there, end of story. You shouldn't take this as me flaming your addon. Its free, i know how much work goes into addons, and its a real fun idea. Just take it as an observation. And in case i am seeing a seperate LOD, you should check them all to make sure the bars are textured, some things can easily slip by you while making stuff in O2, i know this. *throws his 2 cents in the jar* P.S. You wouldn't happen to go by Badguytje also, would you!? If you do, you know why i'm asking and you probably won't tell me the truth. Because Badguytje has also gone under the name Martin at times. matyboy 0 Posted February 10, 2003 No I have never gone under any other name other than what my mother gave me. And there are only two lods in the jetpack and all have been textured and checked,I have not had any emails, from people saying that it has any textures missing. the jet output pips are light gray and the control bars are dark gray, and on my tests all are ok,and on my friends computers its ok so I don`t know why you are having that problem...never mind. martin.
