Eidron 0 Posted January 14, 2003 I just put in another 256mb of ram (in addition to my other 256mb) but in the advanced options in the ofp preferences I cant set the total ram over 256mb which is strange when i have 512... Can anyone help? Is a reinstall in order?
bn880 5 Posted January 14, 2003 When you start Flashpoint Preferences from the start menu, what does it read beside 'RAM:' It should read 512, if it doesn't, somehow WIndows is unable to use the extra ram. EDIT: Don't forget to Autodetect the settings again.
JRMZ 0 Posted January 14, 2003 I think you should use the option "Autodetect" in the OFP preferences. That should do the trick
Eidron 0 Posted January 14, 2003 In the box on the first page it reads 512 but in the advanced settings the slider is at maximum and reads 256 . And I have tried auto-detect but it makes no difference.
Mister Frag 0 Posted January 14, 2003 The internal heap size is limited to 256MB, and has no relation to the amount of physical memory in the system.
bn880 5 Posted January 14, 2003 Eidron: You mean the "Total Memory:" slider only allows 256? Hmmm, someone must have seen this before.
bn880 5 Posted January 14, 2003 Frag, there are three options, Total Memory, Texture Heap, and File Heap. Total memory appears to accept as much as your swap file size. Texture and File heaps only allow 16MB here. EDIT: Try increasing your windows swap file size...
