Audio in game

Hello all

If there is an area of editing that I find I spend most time trying to get right, it is custom in-mission audio (ogg files etc). So far, say3D on an object is far too quiet, regardless of the db setting in description, and a trigger for example can't activate playsound on an object other than itself.
Would anybody have a 2019 perspective on an audio system that works with a trigger activating a sound to play from an object/prop?
Perhaps a script that somebody has found that is more effective/reliable than in game triggers as well.

Put a music snippet as mono .ogg inside a mission and make sure all volume sliders are set to max and be close to the playback object, then compare the loudness with playing the file in an audio player at max volume slider, perceived loudness should be the same.
