MrEmcee84 4 Posted March 23, 2019 Sup, Since Tac-Ops was announced I always imagined I would get to play with larger scale tactical play in singleplayer Arma. It ended up being a great DLC but not what I expected. It focused much more on the small team. To compensate I have created a working concept that allows the player to take control of more than one team and switch between their leaders. This uses ArmA's high command and team switch features to be integrated seamlessly into the mission. I really liked how my first mission "Blacked out" turned out. You can set one team to scout from afar and provide fire support, another to fly a drone over the target and have the main force attack, this is all at the same time! It allows each mission to be completed in so many different ways and gives the player more control over the course of the mission. You can anticipate new encounters and resolve them with each of the teams in your disposal. While the first mission is pretty simple and small scale, I can see this concept becoming bigger and incorporating larger scale battles. It has the option to add fire support teams, armored platoons and bring the player's control to a massive battlefield. So without further ado, here is the first mission in the series: Blacked Out https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1691708964 A USAF satellite crashes on Malden. The first police force at scene has lost contact. Your objective is to investigate what happened to the force. Scout, coordinate and execute a mission with three different teams. Use your resources and assess new encounters. - Of course I would like all the feedback you can give, both positive and negative. I want to learn how to better my missions and provide a more fun experience to the game. I'm actively working on new missions and improving the scripting. If you want to help me in any way feel free to contact me!

lexx 1363 Posted March 27, 2019 I like that you used the new briefing function + voice over, etc. Pretty nice. Personally I don't even remember how to use High Command, because it wasn't used since ArmA2 or so. Tried to use it in ArmA3 now, but stopped bothering quickly. Not sure if you were showing a hint on how to use it- at least I didn't noticed. But might also have been because I was a bit in a rush yesterday. About the gameplay. Played through your mission pretty quickly with just rushing to the target area with all forces once I had the drone up and knew where the targets have been. I think you should add something to punish the player for doing just that. At least giving him a bad mission rating, the more of his men die or so. (Though, even with my rambo-approach, I only lost two men based on the debriefing.) Other than that, not a bad mission + not shitty briefing presentation, which is kinda rare in user created content and thus surprised me.

It's more of a test drive. My current goal is to try and improve on the high command system(or replace it entirely with my own) because right now, it's pretty much bug-ridden and broken. I made a few scripts that fixed most of the issues. I did try to include several hints and information on how to play the mission with HC and unit switching. mainly I have a briefing page with all the shortcuts and several in-game hints(only appears if you have hints enabled in the options menu) I think the best way forward, would be to remake the high command and unit switching mechanics of the game and include a skippable tutorial/showcase of sorts to help understand the mechanics. 1
