blackdog~ 0 Posted December 27, 2002 I'm a regular on SHoP... and it has had some downtime lately due to internet related problems which has ment I have had to leave the usual band of "Regulars" that play on that server daily and venture out to the strange, and unusual world of other servers. Well I've got one thing to tell you. It sucked. You know why? Rudeness, bad players, bad maps, high pings, and people calling eachother "campers" (this ain't Counter-Strike you know...). I have been kicked for saying nothing by admins on crappy servers. The maps suck, they are close quarters combat and have no variety... the lag makes it even worse! It scared me. Luckily I have found 'temporary' servers that are suitable to my not-so-high not-so-low standards. This includes the 1-8th server, the USMC 'Hell's Kitchen' server, and the MTCO.com server... and the occasional run on the european Zeus server. But of course, these are the same people I played with daily on SHoP as well... but something is always different. The maps: The maps on most of the servers I visited were out of order, completely different, random, barely worked on maps (no offense to anyone). On SHoP, we have a few Co-Op maps by various people, which are all great, a few wonderful CTF maps, but the ones that really stick out are Tactician's well scripted, and well thought out C&H and newly made CTF maps. I just can't live without these... he prefers quality over quantity. There is no music, but it is replaced with the best gameplay ever. The admins: Yes I do have my gripes (:P) but overall the admins on SHoP are fair, nice, friendly, wonderful, did I mention nice, friendly, oh yes admins (;)). They don't boot high pingers just because of their pings... the only things they do boot is because of tkers and cracked IDs. This isn't found in other servers... they dont make up their own rules and go postal. They pick maps that the players want and dont threaten to do anything to anyone. I could go on and on about SHoP but maybe someone else will continue for me. I just hope that all OFP server admins will take it as a role model... Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
