JudgeRightly 0 Posted October 9, 2018 Question: Been trying to get better at flying jets recently, and using HOTAS to do it. One of the problems is that when I'm flying around, my plane keeps recentering on the plane's vector icon in the hud, but I've noticed while watching youtube videos of people flying jets that they don't have this issue, though I think they're using M+K. Is there any way to turn off this "auto-centering" for the HOTAS?
Harzach 2507 Posted October 10, 2018 Maybe I'm not understanding. The velocity vector is an indicator, not a constant. It shows your direction of flight relative to the airframe. Perhaps some examples would help.

So I yaw to the right, but when I stop actively yawing, the plane rubberbands back to just to the right of where I was originally pointing. In other words, I yawed 5 degrees, but the vv only moved 1/2 a degree (not to scale). It makes it really difficult to turn the plane without rolling. Harzach 2507 Posted October 10, 2018 You aren't turning, you are yawing. You return to (nearly) your original direction of flight due to directional stability.
