How to edit original addons?

Recommended Posts

A few months ago I asked how to edit the original addons, sadly personal developments didn't allow me to read that thread after I made it, and was wondering if someone could tell me how I can edit the original addons (AKA make the M-16 Full auto, bigger mag, etc) Thank you for your help!

Again very sorry to ask.

Open the config.bin in the BIN folder of your OFP directory and change values for M16 in the cfg weapons and cfg ammo sections. I think you need to change reload delay time(make it smaller) and the count or something like that to the number of rounds you want the M16 to have.If you want to edit a model so it would actually look different ingame you would have to get oxygen and download the models in the demo version. You can't use the ones from the full version of the game because they're in a different format or encryption or something that makes them so oxygen can't open them. There aren't that many models that were in the demo version of the game.

thanks! but I was just the M16 firing rate as an example, how would I edit the PBO's themselves. Also, if I edit the PBO do I also need to edit the config.bin?

THere isn't a pbo for any of the default weapons in OFP. For the ones that were added in a patch, for example the G36, there are pbos in the addosn folder. To get to the config.cpp of those you have to extract it. You can d/l several different ones here. You might have to put the config.bin from the BIN folder into text format by using another tool from the page I linked to above. I have OFP manager and it can do both. The config.bin in the BIN folder contains all the data for all the weapons that came with OFP 1.0. You wouldn't need to edit the config.bin if you edited a pbo because if the gun is in a pbo file it wouldn't be included in the config.bin since it is an addon(either official(from BIS) or unofficial).

Yep. I still cant edit my OFP. I've tried everything, but now I get an error message, and my game crashes to desktop as soon as the screen turns black. I'd really appreaciate any help, if anyone has some advice... sad.gif

Isn't it possible to activate the anti-piracy software if you mess around with the .bin? confused.gif
