MarcusJClifford 1 Posted December 3, 2002 OK, did you really think it was needed to dump your entire system details Anyway, your processor is quite slow - 1.1Ghz is quite fast, but some people are playing with 3Ghz+ now. Your graphics card I do not recognise, but it only has 32MB memory so that may be a problem. 2542 is a reasonable score for your CPU. Does single player perform the same? - I think if it does then upgrade of CPU will help.

If you play in any mission that has many AI units or smoke and your computer will switch to powerpoint presentation mode. 32MB is far to small to hold the textures required for OFP:R so they will have to be loaded / unloaded which will definately impact performance. But I am certain the biggest bottleneck is the processor
Mister Frag 0 Posted December 3, 2002 The clock speed of the CPU and throughput of the memory subsystem are what matter for the performance rating in OFP. Since few people can upgrade the later, the first step should be to upgrade to a faster CPU if possible. With the AMD processors being so cheap, that is a reasonable solution. I doubt whether that is the problem as i also have a 32mb graphics card too...<span id='postcolor'> I just had to say that I play OFP (and have been for a while) on a Celeron 566 mhz, 256 MB RAM, 16 MB Voodoo 3 graphics card, philips acoustic edge sound card and a Western Digital 7200 rpm hard drive. With that slow of a system, OFP runs fine! Â I do have to turn down some of the graphics of course, but I design missions and have been able to make battles with 160 AI + and it still runs fine on my box. Â So... Just had to point out that OFP runs well on a variety of boxes and you don't have to have a top of the line one to enjoy it. Â BTW, Alpha, you have a cable modem with 500 down?! Â Isn't that pretty slow for cable? Â I would try going to www.speedguide.net and download a registry fix if you have win98/me/2K. Â That might be part of the prob.. Â Also: </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">what does frame rates slow it down& view distancstem Information<span id='postcolor'> I'm not sure what you meant by this Alpha, but as far as viewdistance, yes that would affect the performance of OFP. Â That command also changes the AI's viewdistance as well! So it takes a lot more cpu power when raising the viewdistance! Â Asmodeus P.S. My benchmark was 977 until I got the 7200 rpm hard drive, then it went up to 1083.
