Need a good CPU for arma 3 and possible GPU if needed.

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

So i bought Arma at the beginning of the year, and I've been putting up with my shit frames and graphics for a while now. My computer is a Dell Vostro 470, purchased in around about 2011-2012, not too sure. My CPU is an Intel Core i7-2600 @ 3.50 GHz. My graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce GT 530 (idk if it is good or not lol). Im just wondering what CPU i should get if i need one, and what kind of GPU if i need one. I run arma at around 40 fps on the lowest setting possible, i have everything on low (or disabled if can be) and my sampling is at around 80%. I cannot win many gunfights at all because as soon as i fire a bullet or spray and pray, my fps goes to about 10 until i stop shooting. i have a around 400-500 Australian Dollars, any feedback would be appreciated, feel free to ask me questions about my PC if you like.

Thanks all, Jeremy.

Hello,

Just to suggest a couple of threads for you to review, and use as a reference and or ask questions there too in the

future about anything CPU/ & computers for arma3:

Which CPU for Arma 3?

https://forums.bistudio.com/forums/topic/205886-which-cpu-for-arma-3/

Will-my-pc-run-Arma3? What cpu/gpu to get? What settings? What system specifications?

https://forums.bistudio.com/forums/topic/187603-will-my-pc-run-arma3-what-cpugpu-to-get-what-settings-what-system-specifications/

other then the above, how many gb of ram do you have?

Your CPU is socket LGA1155

without having to upgrade your motherboard you can get a better CPU so on this page for newegg

https://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?N=100007671 600095610 600005686 4814 600030236&IsNodeId=1&Submit=ENE&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleKWLess&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleKWLess-_-DSA-_-CategoryPages-_-NA&gclid=CjwKCAjwu7LOBRBZEiwAQtfbGN0noVFOjwgHCojCG-0XkLEbgv-DzXNnCS4lC8sgUtJEo_QStj62mhoCY2YQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

It really comes down to what you can afford, and it seems that a cpu that will work with your current motherboard, would be the best bet for starters,

then graphics card if you can afford it however if you have 8gb or less of ram, i would opt for more ram.

Overall I would recommend putting away some more money. Arma3 is cpu/gpu demanding but good ram helps too!

What an odd pair.

That's like putting a V12 on a carriage.

The bare minimum GPU to go with a 7700k would be a GTX1070, preferrably a 1080 and if you can afford it buy the 1080ti.

Upgrade to 16gb and get the 7700k with a 1080 and you'll be good for the next few years.

Now with your budget being limited to 400-500 ausd I'd say go for the CPU first and get at least a gtx 1070 or better a 1080 once you have the cash.

Paying 200 bucks for the 1050 is throwing money away, especially since you buy it to get a GPU capable of handling games.

All depends on the australian prices anyway, no idea what a 1070 costs there.

Got lucky buying my 1080 for 499eur around may shortly before prices went up.

Cheers
