anfo 118 Posted August 21, 2017 Hello all I am part of a little clan in the corner of the internet and we are on the verge of choosing a new game server company. Apart from the prices which we can mull over, we have shortlisted the following server specifications to choose from: 1. Intel 7700k 4.2ghz | No limit on RAM (until too much RAM usage indicates a possible leak) 2. Intel Xeon E5-2687W 3.5GHz | Up to 6GB RAM 3. Intel Xeon X5690 3.4GHz | 8GB or more if required We are only small but growing (17 members) and as such AI are usually only a hundred or so, but we do love our props. However recently we have been humbled by poor server FPS which we are starting to control better. The server that we're departing is: Existing server | Intel Xeon E3-1230v2 | 16GB Would appreciate feedback on what everybody thinks. Tankbuster 1746 Posted August 21, 2017 ECC doesn't bring anything to the party here, forget about it. I avoid Xeons for Arma servers. They are great webservers, but only an i* is any good for an arma server. For example, I have a 7th gen i3 here, I use it for my clan server and ts as well as home media serving.I did a direct comparison with the same mission running it against an E3 Xeon v2, probably the same type you have now. The i3 kicked it's arse all day long until I had more than 3 or more arma servers running on it, then the Xeon was slightly better Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
