Delson 0 Posted November 22, 2002 My OFP ran only when I had Directx 8.0 installed in may machine. It's a GREAT frustration, first because it is impossible to uninstall directx 8.1 (only formating the HD), and second because I find OFP the most real war game I have ever seen. So, a beg for the experts to help me, for god! My machine: AMD 1.0 Asus A7V 246 RAM HD 40 MB Graffic Card: Viper II Windows ME
MoodyB 0 Posted November 22, 2002 There's a DirectX8.1 uninstaller on the web.Do a search with Google. Not an official one though but it does work.
Mister Frag 0 Posted November 22, 2002 Use DirectX Buster to get rid of your DirectX 8.1 if you want to. However, OFP is fully compatible with DirectX 8.1, so there is no reason to uninstall it. More likely, your DirectX installation is damaged, or your video settings are messed up -- I would run the DirectX Diagnostics (DXDIAG.EXE) before uninstalling to see if you can find a problem. Since you didn't include any details on what the symptoms are, we can only guess.

Odysseus 0 Posted November 23, 2002 Make system restore point before you install directx 8.1. If you want go back to 8.0, just restore system.

Have you tried to reinstall directx 8.1 or install a new gfx driver? What kind of GFX card is the Viper II? Nvidia chipset? try to get the latest OFFICIAL drivers for your card! Delson 0 Posted November 24, 2002 Thanks for all help. I've already run dxdiag.exe and reinstalled it too. In the first click to run OFP, it shows this message: "The file DINPUT8.DLL linked to ADVAP132.DLL not found:AddAccessAllowedAceEx." I played OFP many times with my Viper II (Savage 3 chipset) when the directx was 8.0. Unfortunately, I cannot return the system to the point before directx 8.1 installation, becouse I've made many changes in it I must loose all of them. The solution may be unistalling directx 8.1. Tanks for everybody
Mister Frag 0 Posted November 24, 2002 Then use DirectX Buster to get rid of 8.1, and reinstall DirectX 8.0 by downloading it from Microsoft's DirectX site. It is also on the original OFP CD -- the OFP:R CD contains 8.
