Wav to ogg conversion

Recommended Posts

Nothing works for me!

Running WinXP.

dbPowerAmp converts WAVs to OGGs that can be listened to with WinAmp but not heard in OFP. sad.gif

Audio Conversion Wizard just doesn't run when I doubleclick on it. sad.gif

Wavesurfer gets an internal error after I download its OGG plugin and try converting the WAV. sad.gif

sad.gif What's a mother to do?? sad.gif

Hmmm, make sure to convert with a constant not variable bitrate. Also don't go for the lowest possible bitrate, I think it doesn't play.

If you substitute your converted .ogg with some other .ogg from another mission does it play?

No actually 22Khz 88kbps mono works well also.

I did. I found this thread. tounge.gif

I'll try some of the rate setting mentioned above (which you all can't seem to agree on anyway biggrin.gif ).

Roger that... but if you have a 5 minute song, better use 22K smile.gif

Oggdrop.  Works like a charm<span id='postcolor'>

Well it does work like a charm. Thanks.

It's error log said it couldn't convert my file because it's 8-bit. Could that be my problem to begin with? confused.gif

I don't think I have a single 16 bit WAV file on my computer. confused.gif

And anything I'm DL'ing is either 8 bit or some other WAV format not supported by OGGdrop. sad.gif

Lol, useless male says you can upsample (resample to 16bit). Software like Cool Edit and SB Live wave edit or something does it. Probably hundreds of apps around.

Hi Avon

Have you got an old copy of MS Sound Recorder

Maybe in a compatability patch ancient software from Win95.

When you save as you have options to save in older Wav formats

Mickysoft changed formats so they wont load in none Mickysoft software not that I think they did this on purpose biggrin.gif

when you save as you can save in other formats I think it PCM 48,000 Hz 16 bit sterio

Might help

Kind Regards walker

I suggest getting Sound Forge XP. Cheaper than the professional version with most of the benefits that come with it. Not only can you easily change bit depth but you can also resample with great anti-aliasing, not to mention all the useful enhancements, effects and an in-depth equalizer.

Thank you, useless, but I had already tried that after my last post. tounge.gif

Nothing works, so I'm going to take a positive attitude. There must be some useful male out there who can convert this Simpsons song WAV file (edit: link removed) for me to an OGG playable in OFP and zip it and email it to me. smile.gif

Cease and desist, kind citizens of OFP Land! One of you has already sent me the file and it works!

Much appreciated. You may now go back to drinking your beer. tounge.gif

I wish you would waste - er - spend your time on that updated mission I've long been waiting for from you, instead of on trivialities like this. biggrin.gif

I know that it's a bit on the Late side for this post, but Goldwave, it's probably the best thing since sliced bread when it comes to anything sound related, just d'load it and get the ogg plugin, you can do all sorts with it, sampling editing etc etc. brilliant proggy.....get it here if your interested Goldwave
