"base" name

Recommended Posts

I'm using the following code:

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">[Resistance,"base"] sidechat "Blah..."';<span id='postcolor'>

And the default name of "base" (as displayed in the sidechat in game) is PAPA_BEAR. Any idea how to change this to a different designation?

Cheers once more...

The good news is that YES, there is a way, cause I saw it once in a older thread while searching for something else.

Of course the bad news is I have no idea where that thread is! Keep searching, maybe you'll find it!

Stuff like this would be GREAT to have documented in the official manual.

EDIT:

I just looked back through some of my notes. Not sure if this would help, but it's close:

Previous thread

Why do you answer a thread if you have no idea ?<span id='postcolor'>

WHY ASK WHY?

Actually, I DID have an idea, and I knew there was a way to do it, but no one else had answered his thread. Sometimes just knowing there is a way to do something is answer enough, as opposed to not being sure if it is feasible. By my coming forward and saying there was a way also bumps his issue back to the top. Why am I even answering to you? Why ask why......

EDIT:

Note Balschoiw went back after I posted this and edited out the sarcasm.

That was your original post Mr. Baron von Red. Than I posted my Answer that I think threads only should be answered if you know a solution. You read my post, used the search function and came over the thread you inserted then into your 1st post.

If you have a problem contact me via mail ****head but don´t mess the forums here. If you feel to spam any thread you find only to rise your postcount you are a very poor person...

I don't answer to you, and I'll post anytime I think something helps someone as long as BIS doesn't ban me. I was trying to help out and you, Mr. WANNABE MODERATOR jump in and start barking orders.

So kiss it, punk.

Heh, heh, I see that the old thread I referenced was yours, so you must be speaking from experience!

Thus, I presume you are saying that this didn't work:

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">

just put this in the script with all the radio stuff

HQ=[West,"HQ"] where the HQ in quotes is the name you want to appear at the start of the radio message, and the first HQ is the name of the 'fictional' (not existing in the game) unit

<span id='postcolor'>

Quite a cat fight going on there boys!!  biggrin.gif

Cheers for trying to help Baron. Balschoiw, if a search of the threads would have enlightened me,

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">A search in the forums would have enlightened you.<span id='postcolor'>

would you be so good as to point me in the right direction?

It can't be that tricky can it? If I can't find out a way I'll just have a non-player unit say it and change his designation to Alpha White or summit, but PAPA_BEAR just sounds a little shite, no?  tounge.gif

Dude, I would try this:

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">

HQ=[West,"HQ"] where the HQ in quotes is the name you want to appear at the start of the radio message, and the first HQ is the name of the 'fictional' (not existing in the game) unit

I doubt that it will work cause Red said it wouldn't, and he's usually right, but if it did - OMG!

Anyhow, I usually just hide a guy on the map somewhere and use him cause that's fast and easy.

BTW, you're welcome, and thank you for giving me the opportunity to run up my post counts; at least I will be able to sleep tonight! wink.gif

That does work, but it will still display the name as papa_bear.
