datter 0 Posted November 16, 2002 Hi all, I had a cable connection here for about 5 years and never had a problem with OFP mp aside from lousy pings. I just switched to ADSL and now find the in game server browser doesn't work. It simply won't show any servers. A friend on the same adsl connection has the same problem. Any idea what's wrong? Thanks in advance, datter

ralphwiggum 6 Posted November 16, 2002 how about your ISP setting up their own firewall? windows XP's own firewall, or something called ICS?
datter 0 Posted November 16, 2002 I don't think it's XP's firewall, not sure about my isp but will check with them datter
Mister Frag 0 Posted November 17, 2002 OFP couldn't care less what type of network connection you have -- it doesn't talk "cable" or "DSL", it uses either DirectPlay's networking APIs, or WINSOCK. Make sure that your in-game browser is looking for Internet games, not LAN games. If you have a firewall, make sure that the appropriate ports are open. Finally, make sure your ISP doesn't filter some packet types or ports -- you may have to contact their tech guys about that.
ale2999 0 Posted November 17, 2002 LOL, just to make sure, do u have resistance (1.75 or above) else xp's firewall shouldnt matter as I have one. Maybe u are using a router with included firewall
datter 0 Posted November 17, 2002 "make sure your ISP doesn't filter some packet types or ports -- you may have to contact their tech guys about that." I bet that's it as I run Res 1.85 the same as I did on my cable connection. I usualy shut ZA down altogether when I play. I'll have to give them a call.
