hrbeing 0 Posted November 14, 2002 Hi, I didn't see any other topics mentioning this... I have two computers on a LAN, one of them hosts a multiplayer game and the other joins. Randomly, one of them will just exit Operation Flashpoint Resistance (1.85). No warning, no messages, just back to Windows. It happens on both of them. They're both Athlons, one has a GeForce 3, one has a GeForce 4. No problems like this in any other games. The computers always work fine afterwards, I just have to re-run the game. I have a mod installed (Dynamic Range sound mod), and a bunch of add-ons installed, but this happens in games which don't use any of the add-ons so I don't think that's the problem. I do get a message that one of the players has a modified configuration.. not sure why, since they both have the same things installed. But I still don't think it should just quit like that. Can anyone suggest what the problem might be? Thanks, Nicholas
Skunk Monkey 0 Posted November 14, 2002 You using the no-cd patch? Suma posted a thread about problems with this, and stated the BIS will only give tech support on original games (which would mean 2 copies for your 2 PC's).
hrbeing 0 Posted November 14, 2002 No, I have two copies of the game.
hrbeing 0 Posted November 14, 2002 Hmm, it hasn't happened since I disabled the Dynamic Range sound mod. That might have been it; if it happens again with it off I'll post another reply.
Mister Frag 0 Posted November 14, 2002 The sound mods replace the standard SOUND.PBO file, and thus affect all games played in OFP. The whole point of the sound mods is that you don't have to do anything to all of your existing maps/missions to experience the new sounds, but on the downside, if there is a problem with the sound mod, you'll have problems with all the missions. It is possible that the sound mod you have is missing some sounds that are required by the missions that are crashing on you. If it was designed for an earlier version of OFP and hasn't been updated, it will have problems when a sound needs to be played that isn't in the .PBO file. hrbeing 0 Posted November 16, 2002 OK, here is what I found: With neither computers using the Dynamic Range sound mod, or both, it works just fine. If one is using it and the other isn't, then there are the multi-player problems I described, as well as the message that one computer uses a modified configuration. So, I guess this means, if you want to use the sound mod in multi-player, everyone has to use it! (I recommend it, it really does make the sounds better, esp. machine guns on tanks and explosions, grenades etc.) Nicholas
