hrbeing 0 Posted November 14, 2002 Hi, I bought two copies of Operation Flashpoint: Resistance so I can play it at my home with my friends. One of the computers is my old game machine, and one is my new, so they both had my first copy of Operation: Flashpoint Resistance installed. I uninstalled the game on my old machine, and installed the new one I bought there. But when I start a multiplayer game it says "Remember, original games don't fade". I have two original games Why is it saying this?? I am very disappointed and feel like I have wasted my money. Please let me know what I can do about this. hrbeing 0 Posted November 14, 2002 The weird thing was, when I went to install the new Operation Flashpoint: Resistance, it told me the game was already installed, and asked if I wanted to re-install it. But I un-installed the old version from the control panel. I don't understand why this happened, but maybe it has something to do with my problem?
bn880 5 Posted November 14, 2002 When installing your new OFP make sure to use the cd key that came with it. So grab the two manuals and use em both.
hrbeing 0 Posted November 14, 2002 Yes, I used the new Resistance key to install the new Resistance game. I had to use the same key to install the original game, since I only have one copy of that. I can't afford (and surely don't need?! to buy two copies of *both* discs. But I definately used differrent ones to install Resistance.
hrbeing 0 Posted November 14, 2002 In fact, I looked in two stores, and didn't even *find* a copy of the original game. So even if I wanted to I couldn't buy a copy with a different key. I only found Red Hammer and Resistance for sale any more.
Mister Frag 0 Posted November 14, 2002 Your problem is that you used the same CD key for both copies of OFP -- you need two copies of that. Keep in mind that Resistance is not a standalone product, it is an addon for OFP. Using a single copy of the base product not only violates the license agreement, it also triggers FADE. ralphwiggum 6 Posted November 14, 2002 RedHammer is basically OFP+Redhammer campaign. so go buy it.
hrbeing 0 Posted November 14, 2002 So should I just take my useless second copy of Resistance back to the store then? Red Hammer still needs the original game, and it doesn't come with any kind of key. I find it totally unreasonable that there is no way for me to play the game with my friend on a LAN even if I want to It's not like I haven't paid enough money already. hrbeing 0 Posted November 14, 2002 OK, tell me exactly, how many copies of what do I need to play the game with two computers on a LAN?
ralphwiggum 6 Posted November 14, 2002 there is RedHammer UPGRADE version, which upgrades from OFP, and then there is Fullversion which has OFP AND redhammer. for each PC, you need, 1 OFP, and 1 OFPR.
hrbeing 0 Posted November 14, 2002 Well, no store I've ever been in has had the Red Hammer which includes the original game, and no store I've been in recently has had the original game either, so I suppose I'll just have to take it back, and give up my hopes of playing with my friends. Pity, BIS/Codemasters could have made some money out of me if the restrictions weren't so draconian.
ralphwiggum 6 Posted November 14, 2002 try online sellers...i don't know where you are, but there should be some game retailer's website that you can order from.
hrbeing 0 Posted November 14, 2002 I'm in Australia; I don't know of any online game retailers here. Anyway, it's too much bother, and I can't afford to buy *another* disc. I'm not made of money! I'll just have to give up I'm afraid

Mister Frag 0 Posted November 14, 2002 You can also download the free MP demo from the Codemasters website. It obviously doesn't have all the features of the retail product, but it would let you play on as many systems as you want without having to shell out any money.
