For Army active and prior service, would a NTC map be cool

Recommended Posts

For those of you who don't know what NTC, it is the National Training Center at Ft. Irwin, CA (Mojave Desert area). It is where Army has its units go against OPFOR units in simulated battle as well as going through MASSIVE live fire practices (probably larger in scale than in Germany). When you are talking about batallion level live fire +, it gets really wild. The terrain combined with vehicles and infantry would make a good map. Of course the in-game models look better than the Sheridan tanks made up to be t-60 and t-72s. Not to mention the Huey made up to look like a Hind.

LOL...you brought back old memories with this post

Living in tent city....open bay latrines....dealing with railhead/vehicle draw & turn-in.

I remember prepping in the dust bowl...one of the tanks we drew ruptured a fuel cell...dumped about 60-70 gallons of diesel in the sand. We dug for almost 2 days before they said "enough"

d*amn good training tho....

...from a former 3/3 ACR trooper(when they were still at Ft Bliss)

Hey fella,

I served with 3d Battalion 8th Marines, Co K. Getting out this month as platoon sergeant. I've done two Cax' out at 29 Palms, California. That's where the Marine Corps does their combined arms training. That's a pretty good idea, but I don't know if flashpoint can handle all of the units right now. You might be able to do a company sized element reinforced attacking a platoon dug in though. That would be big enough to get everyone's juices flowing. That should work, you could set the soviet platoon in their 2 up 1 back defensive position. Just remeber that their tactics center the squad around the RPG gunners rather than the machine guns. Their machine guns are used for marching fire in the assault and to protect the RPG in the defense. It's too bad flashpoint doesn't model the RPK or RPK-74. Not much on tank tactics all I ever did was ride around in the TC hatch of the AAVs and crack my head everytime I had to get out real quick. But you could set up a hard hit raid on an enemy weapons cache or even a scud sight if you wanted. Enough ranting for now. Good luck on your mission, Semper Fi and all that jazz.

In the Army we say "Simplify" instead of "Semper Fi" (though Semper Fi, I believe Semper Fideltas?? is much kewler).

Yeah Semper Fidelis but the Corps' real big on making things short. To an extreme, they even changed the word car, a one syllabel word to POV a three syllabel accronym. My favorite is KISS (Keep it simple stupid) it usually ends up Keep it stupid simple. Anyway good luck on you mission.
