aceace33333 17 Posted November 5, 2016 I've been having a consistent problem with Arma 3 for a while where I can play fine for a bit... i'll be plaything through various scenarios, usually for 30min - an hour, but when I go to load a new mission, it crashes to Desktop with the ACCESS_VIOLATION error code. I've even tried re-installing Windows 10 (x64) and Arma from scratched, and have played with no mods active (vanilla) and still get this error code. I have some RPT logs from the various crashes, is there a dev i can PM them to?

aceace33333 17 Posted November 6, 2016 What exact files should i post. because when arma crashes it makes a .zip file with several folders and lots of various files. which one's should i upload/link to the thread?
aceace33333 17 Posted November 23, 2016 Was able to replicate Memory CTD in Vanilla version of Arma 3 (no mods active). Here is the dropbox link to the Crash Report. Please, if the devs or any community members can help find a solution, I would love to play Arma without the constant crashes! https://www.dropbox.com/s/xqmkw22npcnm4ot/ArmaReport_Log_20161123T230102_v3.zip?dl=
Gunter Severloh 4070 Posted November 24, 2016 Hi seems you have a memory issue idk, but memory comes up alot. Besides that I would disable your workshop mods and retest Arma3, so remove this mod @Revo's No Sway then test, if getting same thing, then remove this mod: @Simple Single Player Cheat Menu test again, doing this will rule out the mods as not being the culprits, so do that first. aceace33333 17 Posted November 25, 2016 Look at the report time-coded "11-41-10" That's when I was running the game without mods and still got a memory-related CTD.
Gunter Severloh 4070 Posted November 25, 2016 Ok 3 parameters: malloc=tbb4malloc_bi -enableHT -mod= Disable those, not saying those are the culprits, just saying to disable things to elimiate anything added to the game as extra, also you dont need to run -mod= when your not running any mods. Also you GPU is this: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Suggest looking up to see if there was any known issues with your GPU with other people and Arma3 in terms of memory or crashes. What are the rest of your computer specs? In the RPt you mentioned you have this repeated many times: 14:56:29 Small mapped regions: 32, size 139264 B 14:56:29 Virtual memory total 4095 MB (4294836224 B) 14:56:29 Virtual memory free 257 MB (270360576 B) 14:56:29 Physical memory free 9040 MB (9479868416 B) 14:56:29 Page file free 3517 MB (3687981056 B) 14:56:29 Process working set 2387 MB (2503770112 B) 14:56:29 Process page file used 2806 MB (2943143936 B) 14:56:29 Longest free VM region: 12767232 B 14:56:29 VM busy 4024541184 B (reserved 695648256 B, committed 3328892928 B, mapped 272261120 B), free 270295040 B I'm no computer expert even tho i built my own ;) but it has to do with memory my guess something with the Gpu and or Ram. aceace33333 17 Posted November 25, 2016 Ok, I'll try disabling those parameters. As for the string of memory related stuff in the rpt log you mentioned... are you saying that's bad, or that there's an error in there? Because I don't see any. I actually run 2 1080s sli, but run arma 3 in single gpu mode because it actually gets better frames. As for my other specs; I run an i7 6700k oc'd to 4.7, and 16gb ddr4 ram oc'd to 3400. And in case you're wondering about system stability I've run multiple system stress tests (cpuz-id, geekbench, etc) for long periods of time with no errors or crashes. And I play many other games just fine with no errors. So it's a stable overclock setup. And I'm with you, I wouldn't call myself a computer expert but this is a custom build I did myself... actually bought many of these components with the purpose of optimizing for arma (strong single-thread CPU, fast ram, etc) That's why these crashes are so frustrating. If you're an expert then you'll understand the first rule of troubleshooting is to rule out as many variables as possible: 1a) Shift to the RC branch as it runs the new memory allocators 1b) Follow Gunter's advice and remove all those start-up parameters (most of the time they don't help & in some cases they can hinder) 1c) Run A3 and see if that solves your crashing. If not, proceed to 2 2) Remove all mods & re-run A3. If not, proceed to 3 3) Save all your OC and then remove all your OC (CPU, RAM, BCLK & GPU). I know it sounds radical but I've known Arma to crash my PC when it's passed every torture test and game that I've thrown at it. Think of it as a gifted but difficult child ;) If not, proceed to 4 4) Curse me & my dumb advice. Leave Arma and its frustration until BI have fixed these memory issues (I've exprienced them too). Go outside, play with your dog/girlfriend/kids. Drink a beer & smile
Gunter Severloh 4070 Posted November 26, 2016 Ditto to the above. As for the string of memory related stuff in the rpt log you mentioned... are you saying that's bad, or that there's an error in there? Saying that its repeating itself alot in the rpt, as an old friend of mine who is a computer tech used to say start removing parts, remove a stick of ram, remove the 2nd gpu, do a process of elimination and see what happens, basically you need to look at what your running, "what you have done to make Arma run better" and undo it.
