Texture probs

Recommended Posts

Yo!

Well, i'm beggining to get the hang of this, but the texturing's still a pain in the a$$. So, here's the situation:

I've got buldozer at C:/bulldozer and o2 at C:/O2light. I have a folder named "crate" in the bulldozer directory, and have changed the texture name prefix to "\crate".

But when i try and texture something, it only textures onto the background, not onto the model. I can't see any texture in bulldozer either.

I've searched, but nothing appropiate came up. A link or anything would help.

Cheers

he ment that it needs to be crate\ and not \crate

Just a thought.. but are you actually applying the texture to the surface (by selecting the faces and pressing B)? I'm sure you are, but it's the only thing I can think of.

Yes, and it should be crate\

Yep, i am. The only thing i think that could be happening is that its applying the texture as the background. You know, like in the how to make an M16 tute, the first thing you do.

Either that or ive got it set up wrong. Help! sad.gif

I feel your pain... but I just don't see what's gone wrong. Select the vertices of the faces to which the texture is to be applied, set the texture in the background of the appropriate view, and press 'B'......

Sorry mate.

Hmmm, well, we may have a breakthrough. sad.gif

I selected the four vertices, then pressed A. I right-clicked then load texture. I went into the bulldozer directory, then to the crate folder, and selected the texure "red_door.pac". Press, open then drag a square around the edges of the box (I'm doing this through the "front" window).

When i press B, it comes up in the history, "Background mapping". Is that what's supposed to happen? confused.gif

I can't test it because my bulldozers f**ked but im D/L the all versions one the now.

Thanks

It'll work? smile.gif

Well, i can't try because i can't get buldozer running:

"Cannot create 3D device:

Adapter1 :Fullscreen .................."

What's this all about? confused.gif

First, follow the bulldozer readme PRECISELY - i.e. the option to use DirectX.

Secondly, copy the "flashpoint.cfg" file in your Operation Flashpoint directory (i.e. the game directory) into the directory in which you have the bulldozer.exe file - I think you mentioned you have it c:\

Or drink heavily - which is more fun.

Edit: And possibly more constructive.

Prospero.

uh.. nevermind, i've sorted that out now.. all i had to do was restart biggrin.gif

Anyway, i've got this problem now and i always have done where i can't load pac or paa textures. My O2 is in C:\program files\oxygen

my buldozer files are in that folder too.

buldozer works fine and i keep my texture files in the same drive (c:\project\textures)

it only loads gifs that are in the oxygen folder too... is this right?
