Will Zeus Ever Get Optimized Properly?

So encase any of you don't know, when playing a Zeus mission anything the Zeus builds, any AI they spawn in, any assets the Zeus spawns is created locally on the Zeus's machine.

 

This means even in a very basic mission such as "Master Altis" anything the Zeus builds uses the Zeus players machines resources to calculate the AI, to calculate everything that unit needs to do.

 

 

So you can have a very expensive dedicated server designed to take the resource burden away from players doing very little.

 

 

Who in the their right mind at BIS thought it was a good idea that the Zeus player should manage these units?

 

Now anyone who has used Zeus will know that no AI script, no AI mod, no AI coding from BIS can even come close to the intelligence a human player controlling the AI and building the world around the players like a Dungeon Master.

 

For me out of all the updates BIS have implemented to ArmA 3 the single most significant thing they ever implemented is ZEUS. It is a total game changer and I honestly don't know why more games don't use this idea.

 

 

But it is so heart breaking to know that it is implemented in such a poor manner. Even a 3rd party mod like MCC spawns all its AI on the server. So my question is: will BIS ever consider optimizing Zeus so all the AI spawn on the server instead of the Zeus's machine?


At the very very least make this a thing for ArmA 4.

Have you attempted to use a headless client and a script to transfer AI spawned in?

I assume that'd resolve part of the situation?

Our dedi doesn't use headless client, would the script still work? I'm willing to try anything to get AI spawned on the server through Zeus.

I'm unsure, but I believe it won't. You can setup a headless client with relative ease if you just want it for simple tasks, i'd suggest having a peek at Werthles Headless Client. You can run the headless on the same server and you'll achieve the outcome you desire.

Reckless, remind me on Steam and I’ll explain to you how to set this all up so that AI is transferred to the HC periodically using Werthless. It’s available in either mod or script format depending on your requirements and it’s something we use in the TFD framework.
