OFPunk 0 Posted November 6, 2002 http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tm....tions_2 From what I understand there was a proposal to legalize weed to anyone over 21. They would be allowed to possess and use up to 3 ounces in 2004. I have never smoked weed in my life and I actually think this was a bad decision to turn this down. There is and always will be a large amount of people smoking pot and law enforcment can never stop this. Millions of dollars are wasted fighting against pot in a battle that can never be won by the police. I say the government should look at the good side and get taxes out of it, save time and money from enforcing it, and keep kids from buying it in unsafe forms in unsafe places from unsafe people. This extra money can be used for things like our shitty social security or education budget shortages. Sure I realize marijuana has its side effects but so does alcohal with possibly worst side effects, and alcohal is legalized over 21. Everything decision have some downsides but I really see that legalizing it could be a close to win win situation. Before you flame me realize this, there is and always will be large percentage of mostly young people smoking pot and nothing can stop them. They either grow out of it or they dont, parents have alot to do with wheter or not the child is gonna abuse it or not but all law enforcement can do is pester them and nothing more. Assault (CAN) 1 Posted November 6, 2002 People have wanted to legalize pot in Canada for ages, it was even recommended by the Senate last month. It is doubtful pot will ever be legalized in Canada until the U.S. does it, I doubt Ottawa would want to 'undermine' the U.S. war on drugs, at least that's what they say. OFPunk 0 Posted November 6, 2002 Yeah thats probably a big reason why it hasnt been legalized anywhere over her yet, everyone is afraid to be first.
ralphwiggum 6 Posted November 6, 2002 then ppl will complain that taxes on pots are too high and etc. on serious note, I support medical reasons, but we are too early to decide if it can be legalized for all right now.
OFPunk 0 Posted November 6, 2002 Too early? its been around long before Viagra was legalized.
ralphwiggum 6 Posted November 6, 2002 viagra is different from marijuana. bad comparison. and viagra was legal cause it passed FDA tests. just because it's been around doesn't neccessarily give it right to be used.
