The Mac and Linux ports will no longer be worked on

Recommended Posts

I'm here to deliver the sad news that work on the Mac and Linux ports has currently ceased, Bohemia put out a tweet yesterday for about 5 minutes and then deleted it (wish I snapped a picture) detailing that the contracted team that was tasked with working on the Mac and Linux ports will no longer be doing so, it's a sad, sad day today

In fairness, that does not mean it is not being worked on anymore. It could mean a lot of things-Maybe there was an issue with that team and so some others will be taking over.Or since major work on the Windows version will be finished with the Apex release, then more of BI will be free to work on the Linux port..or any number of things.

I would not jump to drastic conclusions yet.

This is total speculation-topic being locked until any information actually come out.

Hello, response from management:

"This is simply not true. Our stance towards these experimental ports has not changed and is explained here: https://dev.arma3.com/ports. The 1.58 version of the ports is in development and testing. It's harder than expected due to BattlEye support, some challenges like HBAO+, and our QA focus needing to be on the primary Windows 1.62 release. After the 1.58 port version is eventually released, we do plan to port a post-Apex version."
