The machine guns

I notice that bis said they changed the accuracy of machineguns in 1.85, and indeed it seems like the first shot is quite accurate indeed... finally you dont feel like your totally disadvantaged when fighting assault riflemen at ranges more than 50 metres smile.gif

However does anyone think that the machine guns on extended spray have gotten slightly worse? When firing from crosshair mode your little dot bounces up in a vertical line. Before i used to let it ride up and then point the top (or bottom) most point of this action towards the target. About 1 in 3 or 4 bullets would go rougly where u wanted. However now it seems like its changed a bit, and is even more random?

Id be interested to know if anyone out there actually considers themselves "good" with the machine guns in flashpoint, which in my opinion are very underpowered smile.gif The machinegunner should be one of the most important members in a squad, but right now its like hes a free kill almost smile.gif I realise it was no doubt a game balance issue but still im sure most would agree on this, and yes to all the "itchy trigger fingered" moderators out there, it has been said a million times before smile.gif Does anyone use the machine guns in iron sight mode? I find i have a slight chance of doing ok with just the dot crosshair, but iron sights are really shakey. What method do the ofp experts out there use with machine guns?

After 1.85 I can do some real damage with an MG, by using iron sights and watching the tracers. The previously useless AI MGers have finally become a vital part of your squad. If anything I'd say that MGs are too effective now, but I've been told that's how they are IRL.

I think it's a great fix.

well until the ai starts fearing for it's life the area effect of the mg is very limited. Now if it actually was 'afraid' the mg would keep it's head down as you flank etc. Right now the ai calmly lies there as bullets rain down all around it as it coolly draws a bead and puts a 3round burst into your skull from 300m smile.gif

I have'nt tried the M60/PK in 1.85 yet but I do know how one behave in real life.

I've shot approx 5000 rounds with the H/K MG-3.

Its easy to hit what you're aiming for with the first and second round but if you keep the trigger in you will have a hard time holding your sight on your target due to all the shaking (heavy recoil mixed with extremely high R-O-F).

I don't know how an M60 or a PK behave in real life but I suspect they are'nt that much different than an MG-3 (except maybe the MG-3 has higher R-O-F....approx twice of the M60 I think)
