advocatexxx 0 Posted October 16, 2002 Jeep = Manual HMMWV = Auto M113 = Auto M1A1 = Auto M60 = Auto 5-ton Truck = Auto UAZ = Manual BRDM = Manual BMP/BMP2 = Manual T-55 = Auto T-72 = Auto T80 = Auto Ural Truck = Auto While giving us the option of select UPSHIFT and DOWNSHIFT on the manual-gearbox vehicles, I simply think it's not a big deal and would infact require a massive revamp of the Flashpoint game engine. FSPilot 0 Posted October 17, 2002 How could this possibly recquire a revamp of the entire engine? Explain yourself please. And it would come in handy in case you needed to get up a hill quick or something like that. You must know how slow vehicles go up hills.
Animal_Mother -SWAF- 0 Posted October 17, 2002 As far as I know, the original Jeep model used in the US Army just had two gears. Also...most of the stick shift cars in US are foreign (European) cars, aren't they??

Most of the non-american cars that would be manuals elsewhere are mostly autos here. One more thing, most foreign cars sold in north america are Japaneese or Korean. There are far fewer European cars here, mostly because they are all overpriced, even Volkswagons.

advocatexxx 0 Posted October 17, 2002 overpriced ? Depends on the point of view. If you're looking to get a vehicle to simply get you from point A to point B (and on weekends point C) then you can get the cheapest little Kia with an awesome 100,000 mile/10 year warranty. Now if you want to get from point A to point B (and on weekends point C) in style, luxury and if allowed-speed then names like Mercedes-Benz, Porche, BMW and such bring you just that, not to mention a long history of heritage and quality. Wouldn't I want the new 7-series ? Oh boy you betcha, though I doubt that will be anytime soon
cybrid 0 Posted October 18, 2002 Well I don't know but maybe they send all the crappiest of the Volkswagons here. Honda, Toyota, and Nissan are all far better enginered, last longer and cost less. German cars are not all so superior anymore, and even the American companies are rated nearly as good as Volkswagons, which are only slightly better than average now, reliability like. Some of you also might remember my old post when I found resources to tear up Mercedes with. I have also read a review on the ford focus which was reviewed by some German firm and they had nothing bad to say about it, and thats really saying somthing from them. </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">VW's are pretty pricey, but like all german cars, they are some of the best engineered and designed cars in the world. Don't get me wrong, BMW's are very good cars, but for that price what you would pay in repairs for lower quality cars would still equil far less than the cost of a beemer, unless your buying a KIA. advocatexxx 0 Posted October 18, 2002 cybrid have you ever driven the 2001 BMW M5 through the beautiful country roads of pennsylvania at 80mph feeling the car completely hug the curves as if it was riding on tracks on a sunday afternoon? Well, once you have you'll understand why these automobiles are well worth their price.

And there not that much more unreliable, in fact with the low cost of the parts, they're still alot cheaper to maintain even if they do need a little more attention. And not all of us have $100,000+ to spend on a car.
Guest Posted October 18, 2002 Skip the gears in OFP as someone said earlier, the vehicles need more work before we start loading them up with gears. I own a Chevy 454cui and trust me, I will never, ever, ever, ever drive anything less than a V-8. After I trashed my RX-7, and moved to my 454, I found that shure, my 454 cant beat a rice-burner in the curves, but ill be dammed if my torque couldnt chew it to shreds. German cars are good, I like BMW/Porch, but im no big fan of VW, the W8 is really neat, but aside from that, leave them to ppl who dont want a rush. Itialian cars are THE shit. When it comes to styling and performance, american cars dont stack up. Then we hit the subject of Japanes cars. Ok, shure, some are nifty(ie: GT-R, RX8, supra, WRX), but dude....they like...tiny. its like this you want a zing, zoom , vroom or Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrowl? Shure your little CRX may be fast, but your stupid techo music cant be heard over my exhaust. I have driven a few nice cars RX7 WRX VR6 ZO6 M5 Esprit Boxter T-Rex Camero Z28 Firebird Mustang and when it all comes down to it, its the attitude(and howmany chicks you can fit in your car(CRX punk is screwed)). Alright, chevys got the 454,496 and the new 572(+600hp, 650lbft). need i say more
Sadico 1 Posted October 18, 2002 Believe me, i've got a VW and a BMW, and they are very good cars. Also here in Europe they aren't that expensive. I prefer a german car to any american car.
Frisbee 0 Posted October 18, 2002 My point exactly,BMW's aren't as overpriced over here in europe as they are in the us. And i still think a BMW blows many cars out of the water with fuel economics And if you speak of engine growling,I once had the luck to hear a GT40,now that was a sound i won't forget
Guest Posted October 19, 2002 GT40 is one wild machine now more than ever since ford is gonna bring them back. The nicest sounding car I have ever heard would be my girlfirends dads car; Supercharged GTO Judge. Hear that thing and you almost cream! I go to lotsa car shows and the last one I was at had a 1999(i think) platinum Lamborghini Diablo Roadster. Looked like the one off of Exit Wounds(only good part of the movie). That sounded sweet(cant really compare with the Judge). That 6.0L V12 is one amazing machine. Tho, Its one damm cramped car. Im relativly tall clocking in at 6'3 and weigh a solid 177lbs(193 when I bulk up for football), and I cant image trying to sit in that car for more than 1hour. The Ferrari Enzo, the world's fastest car, is a technological showcase on wheels, but it has one serious flaw. It's hard to park.
