Game Updater + Steam Guard Mobile Code

When I use the Game Updater to update in the console log that pops up it asks me to enter in my Steam Guard code from my mobile but there's nowhere to enter it.

 

Please don't tell me I have to disable security features in order to use this app. :(

I won't tell you so. Fact is when the Steam Guard Mobile came out, it was simply not compatible with Steam used in CLI. It looks like the situation has changed, therefore, I will have a look and update Game Updater ;)

 

A potential workaround (not tested) would be to run the reset script ("Delete user data.bat") located in the Game Updater install directory and run again the installation process, it may offer you to type the code.

I double checked my username and password, both are correct! I also tried to turn of Steam Guard without success.

Okay, something interesting. When you delete the user data and the GU goes back to it's "first time setup" you get a command prompt window that asks you for the same thing. In the command prompt you are able to type in the code and keep going. However, later on when you're at the window in my screenshot you're not looking at a command prompt anymore, just a dump of whatever from the CLI running somewhere else. Because it's just an output window you cant type in your code. But if you could it would work. So all we really need is a way to type in the code when the time comes.

Which branch, dev or main? Maybe there's something wrong with the cache, did you try to reset it? (via the bat script available in the root directory of Game Updater)

Had this error myself... Just doesn't work at all. 

 

Temp fix until the dev's can do a work around is just to disable steam guard on your mobile device. Do it the old fashion way of getting a email, then once your logged into game updater you can turn steam guard back on for your mobile :)
