If you were a little less eager to sling mud at the US forces in Afghanistan, you would have noticed that the story implies that the Special Forces units are behaving themselves quite well, and it's the regular army boys who fucked this up. Nevertheless it's disturbing.

It's a shame we are forced into this situation by AQ terrorist.

Of course none of this would otherwise happen.

Bad things happen during war.

Of course you said nothing months ago when a US soldier was brutally murdered by AQ after being shot down in a chopper.

They take no prisoners.

There's quite a few US haters on this forum, but Chill, you take the cake.

He went overboard with the title of the thread...but the truth is that they shouldn't be terrorizing civilians over there. It's a common problem with occupying forces though. Heck I support Russia's war in Chechnya, and you hear of this sort of thing much more coming from there, but it is a problem which should be faced up to and worked on.

The Russians have called them terrorists since September of 1999 when they bombed those Russian appartment complexes remember? That was after they had their Independence and the war was over - The peace treaty was signed in 1996. The US Got a wakeup call Sept 11, they got the same sort of attack the Russians experienced, and they realized how foolish their denounciations had been.

this disturbs me too. i always thought that dogs were trained so that they could sniff out guns by the gun powder in the bullets and explosives.

In Shahikot, that wasn’t the job that needed doing. “The 82d is a great combat unit,†said a Special Forces NCO who took part in the mission. “A lot of us on the teams came out of the 82d. But they are trained to advance to contact and kill the enemy. There was no ‘enemy’ down there.†The remaining Taliban forces melted into the civilian population after Operation Anaconda blasted them out of the caves of Shahikot in March. Since then, the Afghan war has become basically a low-intensity guerrilla conflict, with Taliban and Qaeda fighters operating in small cells, emerging only to lay land mines and launch nighttime rocket attacks against the Americans before disappearing once again.

I think that says it all. That came from the link.

You could elaborate it further if you wish: It's a shame that you are forced into this situation by the blowback of your own foreign policy. Of course none of this would otherwise happen smile.gif

It is not comparable in any way. He was a soldier, killed by other soldiers. The article that Chill found was about military personell harassing civilians.

As we all know, USA always takes prisoners and treats them with respect confused.gif

We all know, that the most killerhappy and aggressive country on this planet is the US.

Who else wants to start a war just to get rid of one single man? And im not talking about Bin Laden now.

Anyway, killing enemy soldiers is one thing - killing or harrasing civilians is another - Does Nam ring a bell any1?

Nah. Would I ever do that? wink.gif

No, I was just responding to SirLions nonsense. Actually credit should be given to the US for having officers that don't allow the soldiers to behave like animals. Also the US/NATO has very strict rules of conduct that are making a good effort of being respectful to the local cultures. You can't expect the grunts to behave properly but the situation can be controlled as long as the leadership doesn't tolerate violations.

Most of the time when america goes to war it's legit. They just have a problem killing the wrong people.

Who else wants to start a war just to get rid of one single man? And im not talking about Bin Laden now.

That one man could do alot of damage in the future.

Anyway, killing enemy soldiers is one thing - killing or harrasing civilians is another - Does Nam ring a bell any1?

Ever heard of the draft ? They put people there ,that don't want to be there.Plus that is back then.look in the future you know like the russia/chechnya war.

War has changed forever. As we see now in 2000 the enemy doesnt wear a uniform. So all our tactics change and no longer do we need to carpet bomb cities and jungles. Intelegent Agencies should hopefully build in conjuctions with Delta/Sas/SEALs a special force that can go into regions which are responsible and nuetralise the threats.

This is a common sense solution in a good democratic world, but unfortunatley we dont live there mad.gif

Unfortunately a few cowboys in power dictate their veiws to the uninterested people who think that football is more important.

Chill what country you from? Afraid to tell us? wink.gif As much as I hate to say it the army might have to treat civilans harshly to get the to help, which could save lives. Chechen rebels are terriost, and I hope Russia complety defeats them, along with us completely defeating Iraq, or whoever else we might fight. smile.gif

You mean when the communists killed school teachers, doctors, catholic missionaries, and political leaders and just regular farmers who wouldn't give up their rice to them?

"As much as I hate to say it the army might have to treat civilans harshly to get the to help, which could save lives."

Well, Duke, explain this to me: If the SF guys got better results by treating people with respect, how can you support grunts treating people badly? The SF people all ready proved that you can get the right results with some common curtesy and proper attitude. And then you support the mistreatment of civilians? Hmm...

"Chechen rebels are terriost, and I hope Russia complety defeats them, along with us completely defeating Iraq, or whoever else we might fight"

And the Americans that rebelled against England were also terrorists then? I guess that makes you a citizen of a terrorist nation?

(edited for obvious typo, replaced rebels with terrorists)

The Americans who rebelled against england did not go to England 3 years after the war of Independence was over in order to bomb civilians

No,I mean that when people don't want to be there. They're not going care for anything. They probably thought they was going die anyways ,Soo they didn't care.Plus when your in one of those types of wars,What the worst thing they can do to you when you attack a civilian ? If they put a soldier in jail he would be happy as hell probably, and More soldiers would copy the other soldier.

I'm from Australia the country dictated what to do from our governour G bush mad.gif So its alright to kill and torture civilans so that we can all live in a terrorist free world? Daddy bush has done that quite a few times in Iraq and now in Afganistan little bush is doing the same. 3000 AQ suspect were rounded up by the US and dissapeared in the desert. Um I wonder why the USA don't want anything to do with the International Courts?

"No,I mean that when people don't want to be there. They're not going care for anything."

That's a load of bull. According to that statement, people turn into complete animals just because they are doing something they don't like? Newsflash, you don't become an asshole just because you have been drafted. And the draft is not an excuse for acting like a retard. The stupid and week of mind turn into animals maybe, and that is a problem. They would probably do stupid things anyway though.
