Gunter Severloh 4071 Posted August 17, 2015 And please try the mission editor, the best tool of the OFP/ArmA series. Editor all the way, you can play any mission you loaded and or created in the editor from the editor, save and press preview, BEST feature of the game and series! lawndartleo 109 Posted August 17, 2015 Sorry if I am just parroting somebody else's earlier points... I don't even know if it is appropriate to call ArmA an FPS. It has about as much in common with Battlefield and Call of duty as an apple does with an orange. Both fruit but quite different. If you are expecting BF or COD like action. Nope, not your game.... or at least not yet. ArmA is an entirely different experience. Its not hi gloss graphics and twitch game play. Slow and methodical would be a better way to put it. I have friends who play ArmA that have served in the armed forces and have said on more than one occasion that playing the game is too much like being in the army. Lots of mundane interspersed with hair raising moments... and those are what make the game. There are no surprises in all the other shooters out there, you log in and you know exactly what is going to happen. A well made ArmA mission (and there are plenty of them), however, can lead to "Holy @#$%!!!" moments that you will NEVER see in those other games. The list of user made missions that can be played solo or with others against AI is deep. The editor along with Zeus (sorry but I have to shill for Ares here because it add so much to Zeus) allows you to create on the fly as well.
quicksand 0 Posted August 19, 2015 Hi there, please allow me to add my 2 cents. I played Operation Flashpoint since way back in the day and let's just say that it's been a huge gap since I came back to Arma. But here I am now, living as an adult with a job travelling from place to place. I would say that Arma is the ideal game you'd wanna have in your arsenal for the situations you described. What I like about Arma is that it makes you feel like you are the chief with the editor. It does what you ask it to do and your game does not depend on where you are in the storyline or what group of people you are playing with. There are opportunities to go for a ride on what of the maps or plan an ambush or a one last stand setup. It really depends on how you feel the day you start the editor. But yeah the reason to play Arma is that it is the most flexible game out there.
