Need help with error message: cannot load texture ca\weapons\data\rpg7_rockets_co.paa

Recommended Posts

Hello there,

I'm posting this in troubleshooting, but if the staff thinks the thread belongs into editing, feel free to move it. I made my first coop mission and wanted to start it with Playwithsix (PWS) as non-dedicated host because only with PWS my buddy can join me over the internet via direct IP join. Despite having originally downloaded the mods for the mission via Armaholic links, we both registered, synced and updated them with PWS to be sure of having matching versions.

First I thought only he had massive problems with his A3 steam installation because he can't even select folders or paths for finding his non-steam mods. But after he had given up for the day I decided to try the mission alone for playtesting - and after selecting a player slot couldn't get past the loading screen with mission name and description. I received two error messages, the first one was

cannot load texture ca\weapons\data\rpg7_rockets_co.paa

and the second one after the clicking of "close" on the above error message had led to a CTD was then displayed

include file mpmissions\_cur_mp.Kunduz\GL5_Global.sqf not found

This second message I can clearly connect with the mod GL5 that I use in my mission by mission-based initialization. That means a folder containing the various GL5 SQF files that usually are in the individual player's userconfig folder is put into the editor folder of my mission and an initialization code is written in my mission's INIT.SQF. It is intended to force certain GL5 settings to all players alike, but seems to work only partially. In the editor, I get error messages referring to this mod and some of it's features seem to be non-functional.

But I can run the mission just fine in editor and don't ever get the first error message.

Also if I launch the game with ArmA3Sync and create a non-dedicated internet multiplayer game, I can get it running. This is why I chose to post here, and not in the editing forum. I think there is some conflict with the netcode between A3 and steam when loading mods.

When hosting a non-modded A3 game via PWS, my buddy could join and we were able to play. So I'll give the modlist for my mission hoping that someone can clarify if the first error code refers to a vanilla game file or to one of these mods:

Like I said, I'm a bit unsure if this is the right forum or Editing - please understand that IMHO a combination of multiplayer problems with mixed origin should start in general troubleshooting and be moved to more specific forums once a helpful user narrowed down the problems some more.

Thank you all in advance who might have a hint for me,

Update:

At least I found out why it worked with Arma3Sync and didn't work with PlayWithSix. Both programs offer launch parameters, and I found out that the show-stopping "cannot load texture..." error only appears if A3 is launched without the -nolog parameter. I had -nolog set among the startup parameters in Arma3Sync by checking the respective box, but had not done that in PWS. Here in the forums I found some guys posting how the generating of logs totally screwed up their games and in the Arma3Sync thread I could read how this programm and it's repository feature helped them to overcome the problem of players getting kicked due to mismatch of addon keys. I already know Arma3Sync and use it for SP because it's more convenient, but for MP I was using PWS all the time since only this worked at all for my buddy who couldn't ever join if the game was opened with any other way than PWS.

When earlier this week he was unable to join a PWS game I had opened to host my above mentioned mission , I must've thought I'd need some logs to specify why. So I unchecked the -nologs param in PWS because I wanted to get log files detailing the cause for his joining problems. We didn't get it to work all Wednesday and Thursday, gave up on playing modded A3 MP until I would've found help here.

Today, I connected the two pieces of help and launched the game via Arma3Sync with -nologs active as non-dedicated host and...

my buddy could join per direct IP join!

We both got some script errors reported in the usual white-on-black code from the GL5 mod since I had the option -showScriptErrors left on to check if it really was the -nologs param or better the lack of this param that caused the "cannot load texture" error. After this we played the mission for a while and had no other messages appearing.

We could both see after slotting in and starting the mission loading screen that another window with orange-black background like the one containing the error message wanted to open, but couldn't do it's evil magic to our game anymore.

Before starting, we had done these things:

1) checking the mod folders by hand for matching date and size of PBOs

2) checking the A3 keys folder by hand for matching date and size of the mod's bikeys

3) activating the -nologs param in my Arma3Sync and in his

Then we launched the game with Arma3Sync, I opened a MP game via A3 ingame menu and there it worked.

There remains the apparently just suppressed error message that points to a problem still existing - most likely within my mission or it's addons. So, I guess it's up the the moderators if this thread should stay in troubleshooting or be moved to editing. Still I'd appreciate any hints on the origin and possible solutions of the infamous "cannot load texture" error!
