Number of pbo files (mods) and performance

Does more number of pbo files cause less performance on server/client? Is there a limit for number of pbo files that can be connected as mods?

As far as I know there is no limit. And I dont think more would cause performance issues by its self but what would cause issues is if they conflict with each other which is a rising risk with the more mods you add.

Back in the OFP and ArmA1 days there most certainly was a limit. Though it varied from system to system (so its would somehow relate to system spec - RAM maybe), it would prevent the game from starting if you ran too many mods. Whether this limit is no longer present in ArmA, or simply no-longer triggered now that I have 16GB of RAM compared to my system back in the day when I played OFP/ArmA1 which had ~4GB tops, remains to be seen.
