Adding factions to the "Advancing Power" scenario

I've been playing Dragon Zen's Advancing Power scenario for a while, but there just aren't enough factions. You're supposedly able to add more factions easily, and I tried and I tried, but I have no idea how any of this works. I was trying to add factions from I44, and I basically got as far as typing in class names of the units I wanted, but I guess I couldn't repack it correctly or just get it to work. It should be quite simple but mods for this game are well beyond my limited technical skill. Can anybody help?
