DanAK47 1 Posted October 4, 2002 When you are prone on a slope your weapon seems to shoot left/right depending on the angle of the hill you're laying on. Doesn't happen if you are standing or kneeling. Dan
Mister Frag 0 Posted October 4, 2002 That's an accurate representation of what happens when a rifle is canted to the side. A six-degree cant (the angle between 12:00 and 12:01 on a watch dial) causes you to miss the intended point of impact by 55 inches at a distance of 1000 yards. The real problem is that the model of the prone soldier is still perpendicular with the ground, like any other model such as vehicles. That in and by itself is correct, but a skilled shooter would compensate and level his upper body and the rifle. Since OFP doesn't have a way to do this, what should it do? Do you prefer a model of the shooter that may be floating off the ground, but is level, or do you want the rifle to be canted? I'm not trying to defend the current implementation in any way, I'm just trying to figure out what the OFP community would prefer given the current engine limitations. Any views and suggestions are welcome. (Edit: turned off emoticons for the post)

DanAK47 1 Posted October 5, 2002 If your sights are level (as they are in OFP) you won't be shooting off to the side. There should be a way to fix this. Dan
