ADOY 0 Posted September 27, 2002 I SEE THAT IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT I SHOULD UPDATE THE DRIVER FOR MY INTEL CHIPSET 845 TO ACHIEVE ENHANCED GAME PLAY. COULD SOMEONE PLEASE ASSIST ME IN LOCATING THE EXACT WEBSITE PAGE WHERE I CAN DOWNLOAD THE UPDATED DRIVER. I HAVE LISTED BELOW A POSSIBLE SITE. A POSSIBLE INTEL WEBSITE IF THIS IS THE CORRECT PAGE, THEN COULD YOU ALSO CONVEY TO ME WHICH IS THE CORRECT LINK. YOUR HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRETIATED SINCE I AM VERY WORRIED ABOUT ANY ACTIVITY WHERE I ALTER SOFTWARE WHICH COULD BE SO POTENTIALLY DAMAGING.

Mister Frag 0 Posted September 27, 2002 I would install the Intel Software Installation Utility and then the Intel Application Accelerator. If you use the built-in graphics controller of the Intel 845G or 845GLchipset instead of a separate PCI or AGP graphics card, you should also install the latest Intel 845G/GL graphics driver, but this is not needed with the 845 or 845E. ADOY 0 Posted September 27, 2002 I feel quite stupid right now. My chipset is 850 (I only know this from the computer's manual). Â I have WinXP. Â I have GeF 4 Ti4600. My questions now are this: (1) How do I determine if a letter follows the chipset (within WinXP)? (2) Given the above assistance, but assuming now 850 and GeF 4, is there anything different as advice?
Mister Frag 0 Posted September 27, 2002 Intel has a Chipset Identification Utility that will tell you exactly what is inside your system. The advise about the Software Installation Utility and the Intel Application Accelerator still stands -- install them both. You have no need for the 845G/GL drivers, however.
