Laser Designation

Recommended Posts

Is it possible to modify how far out vehicles/aircraft can lock onto a laze? Currently they're limited to view distance and @ 3km it's just not far out enough for CAS to get a lock and adjust their flight path enough to drop the GBUs at a safe altitude/distance from the target. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

To follow up, REDDIT user VILenin posted this:

I'm not sure about in mission scripting. By config though? Yes. What you'd look for: https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/A3_Locking_Review#irScanXXX

All the vanilla planes max ranges are set to 5km but irScanToEyeFactor is use which, yeah, caps the range at view distance x that value

Anyone know how I can use this info and apply it to the mission/server?

Nobody knows the answer, so that's why you're not getting any responses. At least that's why I didn't answer. This is the only thread I've found that's even remotely similar to what you're trying to do:

Unfortunately it looks like you're going to have to make an addon. I have no knowledge of how to do that, though. Perhaps you can extend the vehicle classes? Anyway, it'll require all players to have your addon downloaded and activated before they're able to join your server, though.

They should be able to help you more in the Addon creation section of the forum, here's a link for ease:

Hope you get this figured out

Hmm, there has to be a way to edit this within the mission. I remember in Arma 2 there was a mod/script that allowed the Tunguska to have an advanced targeting system, it could track/kill targets anywhere on the map. Thanks for the post Dread.
