Texture settings problem

Recommended Posts

Hello there.

So, I have this problem, when I'm in game, and my frames hit some low numbers, the game automatically switches my texture settings from Very High( I can't even choose Ultra), to High, or even Standard. This also happens when I alt-tab and get back into game. After getting the FPS hit with the last Arma 3 update, this is getting even more annoying.

Now, as I'm into screenshot making, I would like my game to look as pretty as possible while taking screens. So is there any way I can lock the texture setting value so it won't change in game? I tried within the Arma3profile file, puting "textureQuality=4;" but it has no effect.

How much VRAM have you got?

I have the Nvidia GeForce GTX 560ti with 1gb of RAM.

That's what I've got, too. You can't set it to Ultra, because you need 1.5GB VRAM for that, and when your game changes your texture setting from very high too high, then it's most likely that your VRAM ran full. The only thing you can do is, lower the texture setting permanently or decrease your object viewdistance. However, it can still run full if you are in an area with a high density of objects. I've got that problem too, but very rarely.

Ahh, damn, so you're saying I'll need a new video card in order to make this annoying problem stop ? No cheaper way ? :(

Well, it's working fine for me, so I assume there has to be a way to fix that issue for you, without spending money on a new videocard. If I were you, I would wait for more replies here and, in addition open a feedback tracker ticket

I think they've considered removing this limit that the game puts to your settings, unfortunately I don't think it's going to change (ticket is old and reviewed, no dev has said anything). http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=15161

Yeah, that limit should not exists, it should simple pop up a warning everytime you raise your texture settings. But it's still recommended to create a new tickets, since you've got a problem directly with the settings.

Hi Guys,

basic Skins.

Like the most people that do Textures, I use youre for the "basic"

ground. I

know that the EBO Folder is encrypted because it is a buyable DLC. Can

Please don't hijack this thread, you have this section for your question.

On topic

I noticed while playing tonight, that it's not connected with FPS, at least not that I know. I had my textures quality downgraded even if I had 45-50fps, but my GPU was working on +90%.

Basically, if I load my soldier in Virtual Arsenal, the textures look great. As soon as I load him on any map, after a while(almost instantly after moving) they become awful and when I check the settings they're almost always downgraded. I need to repeat that this is happening now more often since the last update, before I was experiencing it only when alt-tabing.
