Helicopter with aimable minigun

Recommended Posts

well:

Tiger - check your ofpec PM's wink.gif

Fubar - at the moment there will be one ver of the uh-60, with moveable gun.

Miles Teg - I have no plans to make a CH-47, yet - other tasks at the moment. Thnks for any feedback, PM me here at the official forums.

USMC Sniper, that was probably Geeks with guns.com, cheers for the input

Ruckiesrule, I may make a version of the uh-60 with an m60, I'll have to ask SEB team if i can use there excellent model of the m60 (will cut down release time)

all - the bullets are normal, non exploding bullets, preliminary tests are being done with 2500 rds of ammo, and the rate of fire.... well, i've emptied the mag (all 2500 rds) in about 2 minutes  wink.gif  (timed it wink.gif )

All i can say is this is one  mad.gif gun, with a bada$$ atitude.

About 1 or 2 days before first public release (v1).

i think you should be able to empty it inless than a minute easily, the gau-2b/m134 has a maximum fire rate of 6000rpm but is used at 2000rpm and 4000rpm (selectable), and i belive they carry 4000 rounds (http://fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ac/equip/m134.htm), you could set the cpp up like a rifle so that by pressing space you chose another gun mode like burst but have it full auto but with different rpm's so you could select the different rpm's

you need to take down the dammage on it a little bit, because when you shoot a soldier he goes FLYING. also you can take out a t80 in a matter of seconds.

edit: i was just screwing around with it and if you put a bunch of units and mow em down, it looks like a leafblower.

Also can you reduce the muzzle flash, its impossible to fire / aim when using scope view (as you would realistically).

The real minigun has very little muzzle flash

I agree also. But I just wanted to add that it would be VERY cool if it had a gun sight like the M60 on the SEB Spec Ops UH-1 Huey helicopter addon. As it is now it is VERY difficult to engage targets below the helicopter (not directly below but tilting the minigun at a steep angle) because the gun just gets in the way and the target can't be seen. sad.gif But I agree that the damage level of the bullets is a way too high. The real life GAU-2 would only scratch the paint of a T-80.

well, this was really a stopgap addon, for all those people who wantded the uh-60 with the m134.

However, as I am now working on the Ballistic team, and the MH-60 is my project, you can expect a much better, and more accurate version in the not too distant future wink.gif

After that, i will re-model my uh-60 with the improved gun/mount

cheers for the input, and thanks for the interest!

I would also request a vastly improved aiming/sight view...staring down the barrels preferrably.

Apart from this (and the things mentioned above), this is quite a nice addon! smile.gif

hold on a sec, i remember a while ago, i version 1.30 the vulcan cannon had a rotating gun and was movable!!!

i know it did, but in version 1.46 it seems not to work anymore. confused.gifmad.gif

Yeah, this might of been, but it's not anymore sad.gif

however you must remember who you're quoting, Select doesn't usually say something that is wrong wink.gif

Cheers for the interests, this will all be taken into consideration for the BAS MH-60

cheers

I might add in regards to the aiming sight for the minigun. DeadMeat has modelled this correctly.

My US Air Force source who has exeperience on both Pavehakw and Pavelow miniguns replied to my question "do they have sights??"

quote:

they used to, but they don't anymore.. it wasn't effective.. what you might want to do is make the Tracers bigger, brighter and longer... and of course keep the little white dot..

Maybe sights arent requiredd, but the view angle is very awkward...even something like the M2 on the standard UH-60 would be better...

yes, the m134(GAU-2) on the MH-60 is mounted outside the cabain on a rail, this will mean that you will be able to aim virtually straight down, and straight forward, so the aiming probs will be sorted wink.gif

with regards to sights, as Tiger said a couple of posts back sights are not practical on Miniguns (you just steer the tracer into the enemy), however they do have basic open sights (similar to those on a pistol or other small arms), and depending on the info i get from our contacts will depend on whether they are modelled or not.
