Removing parts from vehicle models

Any way to remove a part of a vehicle?

Specifically I am trying to remove a RCWS turret from a vehicle.

I have seen skids removed from MH-9s and used to see the RCWS disappear from the Speedboat Minigun/HMG sometimes.

Is there a way to script this?
