XBoix controller does not work in OTHER games after ArmA 3 install

I am pretty confused:

I have 2 XBox controllers and all Steam games worked fine. After the ArmA 3 installation, some of these games do not work with the controller anymore.

Today I did a complete (!) new installation of Windows 8.

Directly after the ArmA installation, the controller stopped working.

Anyone has an idea how to fix this?
