F-22 Modelling Questions

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

For those who don't know me I have ported over the M1A1 & M1A2 and have a few various projects. I wan't to ask a few questions on one of them, which is my F-22. http://prntscr.com/3wyvhn

For the cockpit glass do I model it so that it has two surfaces inside and out or only the one poly surface?

Is A3's Poly count definitely 30k?

Later down the line I would also like to know is it possible to get a reflective tinted glass like the F-22 has?

E.g. Something as simple as this? http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/1e/F-22_Raptor_edit1_(cropped).jpg

Cheers,

Raid

One surface, normals towards the inside (pilot LOD)

Not even close, it is based on the number of vertices normals, not individual faces. The number of vertices normals are based on the smooth groups (hard vs smooth faces) as well as individual UV islands (as far as i can tell)

For 3ds max, you can use this free script to get that information:

http://jokermartini.com/gamefomizer/ ( Smoothing Group Verts number is what you are looking after)

for other modelling packages, there might be similar scripted/plug-ins solutions

Yes it is possible (to a certain degree) to create a similar rv material.

So I did some research and you have said 32k. Is that 32k Smoothing Group verts? Google is your friend :)

Thanks PuFu.
