Client-based Server Not Showing up on Browser (Help Requested!)

Recommended Posts

No Posts seemed to help with this issue, and to my knowledge ports do not need to be forwarded due to the way Arma 3 Handles Ports and client hosting.

My Issue:

When I start up a server, I have it set to internet, default port, and no password (tried also with one, nothing).

I use a steam-workshop mission (also tried with local) and hit okay. Once it's up, two (2) of my friends from different states (one in my town, the other two states away) do NOT see it in the server browser.

"fixes" tested:

- Using an open port (tried using 25565 which was an old minecraft server of mine).

- Restarting Game

- Unsubscribing to Missions

- Turning off all mods that interact with multiplayer (minus Bcombat and JSRS).

- Using Local Missions

- Having them use "join game" through steam.

I don't know if this is something to do with gamespy getting trashed or if it's something on my end or even just a patch that changed shite around, but any help is appreciated.

1. http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?134323-Opening-firewall-ports-for-hosting-COOP-Missions

2. Make sure Arma 3 isn't blocked by the Windows Firewall.

3. Make sure your friends choose "Steam" and not "Gamespy" in the server browser.

4. Make sure your friends search for your server via "Remote" and your IP and not by searching for your servername.

5. Make sure your friends don't have any filters activated in their server browser.

These things are usually necessary to make sure players see your hosted game in the server browser. Having different mod-sets, or even different versions of the game (devbranch or stable) can cause trouble after that. But those things shouldn't make your server invisible to others.
