When I dragged that view distance slider to max, terrain detail automatically went down to normal (I set it to very detailed first to see if I would be able to even get it started). It gets choppy about then, but with a 2.5 - 3Ghz CPU it should be playable. I have terrifying low 3D score, something is very wrong on my system anyway. Am trying to locate the problem.
