paajtor 10 Posted April 6, 2014 Hello, after some years, I returned to the ArmA series, and bought ArmA 3. So right now - after making sure the game runs smooth - I'm trying to map all the controls. ...which is a pain in the *ss, might just as well use 2 keyboards :pet5: But nevermind, I knew this was coming. Ok, I know allot of the controls are also accessible through the HUD. For example, I like to use the G-key for my GPS (obviously), and use the HUD-menu to rise/lower gear on a plane. And so I don't have to puzzle which keys go to the landing-gear > which I won't use that much anyway. So I wonder, if someone has a list of keys, that really have to be mapped? Ofcourse, the basic infantry- and vehicle-keys have to be mapped on the keyboard. Plus some important common keys, like open a door, handbrake, or show compass. This might save me (and other new players?) allot of time and frustrations.
Sneakson 1 Posted April 6, 2014 Most of it. The best thing is to start in an empty editor with one car, a tank, a helicopter and an aircraft then clear your keybindings and start binding them one by one as you start noticing what you need and then go through the list and see if there's anything you missed. Only you will know what you need. Mostly vehicle commands can be done using the menu.

Von Quest 1163 Posted April 7, 2014 Cheap Power A Gaming Controller ($15/PS3) Works awesome! Power EX I believe. The package states PS3 but you can just plug & play with PC. L-Stick (move) L/R = Strafe L-Stick (move) UP = Fast Forward (4x speeds): Stroll, Brisk Walk, Jog, Run L-Stick (move) DN = Move Backwards L3 = Crouch [toggle] R-Stick (look) L/R/U/D = Look/Aim R3 = Prone [toggle] X = Action Triangle = Step Over Square = Optics [toggle] Circle = Swap Sidearm/Rifle D-Pad U = change Throwables D-Pad D = Hold Breath D-Pad L = Watch D-Pad R = Compass R1 = Throw R2 = Fire L1 = Adjust Stance L2 = Aim down sights/optics Select = Selector Switch Start = Lights And that's just to start with. Newer controllers have a middle button, and you can also map the other 4 D-Pad (diagonal) options. With ArmA you can also double-map the buttons for yet more options. You can map Circle to somethings else, as now the Action Menu puts your pistol at the top; so therefor a double-tap to X would grab your Sidearm. Only a few main Keys left for the keyboard. GPS, Map, 1st/3rd View, Numbers (commanding/Radio), Relax (weapon down), <> (channels), Night Vision, etc. My 2 cents. For what its worth. There is a drop-down menu for different situations. So, if you are in a vehicle, you can map a whole NEW set of buttons.
