e00c 10 Posted March 31, 2014 Whilst I'm fairly new to Arma3, started off on DayZ first. I do have some decent understanding of it... however, I'm not sure if I'm just being dumb or.. Shacktac Hud has been added to my server, runs fine. However, if a player doesn't have the CBA addon or Shacktac- they can't use it. But... logically speaking - why don't servers send files to connecting players if they don't have them? I don't know.. err look at Counter Strike for example. Join a server, you don't have the mod.... the server sends you it. Job done, easy. It just seems like a massively odd thing to overlook. Is there a way to repack mods/addon's into the .pbo? At least, this way - everyone playing on the server would have the same tools to play with.

You can use Play WithSIX to get you the required server mods /per server you need, as a work around! Is there a way to repack mods/addon's into the .pbo? A .PBO file is packed and can be unpacked. How to do this can be found here on the forum in many topics. But remember that then you also need a new server key to keep the server secure!
e00c 10 Posted March 31, 2014 Yeh, I saw the bugtracker topic re addons/mods. It just doesn't make sense to me. The .PBO is fine, I know this - I just wondered if I could pack mods inside of these somehow... server key - I did NOT know this. Thanks for the heads up, I'll need to check this out. I made a few alterations to a mission file. opps!
SavageCDN 231 Posted March 31, 2014 Just to add... ShacTac hud is actual not required to be run on the server - this is called a client-side mod (like JSRS, Blastcore, etc). All you need is the .bikey file for the mod in your \Keys folder and players will be able to join with it loaded. The server only requires mods to be loaded if they add content or features to the game (ie: maps, unit mods, weapons, etc). As for the server sending mods.. this would be problematic for a modset like @A3MP which is 5+ gigs. PlayWithSix is your best option for joining modded servers.
