atom212 0 Posted September 14, 2002 I just got the card and i'm wondering the best way to tweak it for OFP. I have 512 Ram, Athlon 1.4 MHZ Thank You
Mister Frag 0 Posted September 14, 2002 I don't have a 9700 myself, so this is not a first-person account, but it seems that the drivers for the Radeon 9700 still have problems with OFP. Depending on the driver version, you may experience lockups and/or flashing textures. Go down a couple of pages in the "Troubleshooting" forum, or search for "9700", and you should find more information.
GI Killer 0 Posted September 29, 2002 Well with a little effort I was able to get it working with both versions. This card is awesome. I knew it couldn't be the card. I had to do some regediting to wipe out all and I mean all of the other driver files that where on my HD(in safe mode) then install the 6178 drivers.. It does seem to have a couple little glitches though like when I alt tab out of any game then go back into it, the gamma is darker than what it is set for? So i have to go to the option screen ingame and reset gamma. A small price to pay....for the awesome frame rates. I'm sure this will be fixed in up coming drivers... SpaceAlex 0 Posted September 29, 2002 ATI are like Creative. Great cards and shitty drivers.
Placebo 31 Posted September 29, 2002 PowerVR are much worse, 4 month gap between drivers for the Kyro2.
GI Killer 0 Posted October 1, 2002 Well after trying numerous things to get this card to where it should be out of the box, I gave up. This card is gonna be nice once the bugs are worked out, but I'll let those at ATI do it since they get paid for it. It had some awesome benchmark scores on my machine but that dosen't help me if it won't perform in the games I play, so back in goes the Ti4600 everyday performance card... I will try out this ATI with every new driver release and will test it using my games as the benchmark tools(which is all I really care about).
