Multiplayer Server-Issue with Vanilla ArmA 3 -Everything stands still-

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

we´re having difficulties with our Server lately and i hope there is someone out there, that can give us a hint on this.

Sometimes after 1 1/2 hours of Gameplay within a Mission everything stops without warning. The single person can still move around and hear others, but cannot see their movement anymore. AI stops also or walks in Place. There is no Chain-Symbol to indicate dsync. Everything just stands still.

It happens with 12+ People, not under it.

It won´t go away with us waiting for Synch again. Sometimes only if we exit to the lobby and log back in. Sometimes only after the Restart of the Server.

We tested it with and without mods, different maps and BIS maps.

We loaded ASM.fsm (Server Monitoring Tool) also, to check the issue live. The Server keeps running and is at max 37% busy.

Could the security Preferences on the Server be faulty by setting it too hard? Anyone got a similar problem like we have here?

We got a Root-Server (Windows-Based) with a pretty good setup in Frankfurt. (100Mbit+, SSD in Raid 1, Backup-SSDs,i5 Running on 3,5 Ghz, 32 GB Ram EEC 2133MhZ etc. and everything running smooth).

Later on when i get the RPT from our Serveradmin i can post it here.

Are other files needed for a lookup?

Thanks in advance

Ben.

What mission do you play and what is server fps ? It reminds me Xeno domination problem on Altis map. Some scripts (eg. checking house for enemies) makes server unplayable - it takes to much time for server to process such a amount of data. That you've described is what we have encountered in xeno domination. Players could walk, drive, etc. but other players, enemies stand still without any move , no desynch either .

Next time when you notice that "lag" check what is going with arma 3 memory usage - eg. rapidly increasing, etc.

Thanks for your reply,

At the time it happens, the server load is at 37% max and the memory usage in total does not go over 4GB. No Spikes, as the Server Monitor states. Server Flops didnt go under 22, AVG 46. Edit: Flops did go down to 5 for one time during that lag, but not the other times.

The Missions are custom made, the amount of enemies present on map ~40, or default BIS MP maps. So i think we can exclude the Missions itself.

We even played a mission with preplaced enemies without usage of scripts exept for BTC Revive / OR XMedSys

Next Try is to delete all memory allocs.

Can you check in task manager what arma 3 server memory usage is ? If 4GB means something is wrong. Xeno domination mission with tonnes of scripts and 250AIs = 1.2GB to 1.6GB

The server ist running a warfare mission since yesterday without that "lag/crash/freeze". Server load on RAM ist between 900 - 1500 MB RAM. This is with the Windows 7 Memory Allocation. We deleted the BIS ones out of the "Dll"-Folder.

-It happened again today. The Mission just froze.

We also saw that our Steam-Accounts shut offline the game. It happened to 6 People.

-We change the Server Config another time tonight and set the values higher for the most part. I´ll post that config later on.

LOL, that last config is that what I use and probably it is made by me. What is the server FPS when all things "stand still" ?

Of Course this Config is from you Pawel =) Thank you for that.

Tonight no desync happened except for one Telekom-User, who has Problems. But it didnt freeze today. Today is a good day!

The only thing im not sure of is the MaxMsgSend=16384; I don´t know if the setting is too optimistic. We got 100mbit up and down secure, but in 90% of all cases were on a big switch with 250mbit.

PS: With the old config the server fps did go down to 20, when the "freeze" did happen.

Plus one question: When Steam-Loginservers go down, everybody disconnects from the game, also? Because two times that desync thingy happened, our steam accounts went offline.

Since five days, steam has to go through many DDoS attacks from botnets, could it affect the dedicated servers?

Pretty sure we got freeze-kicked this time, when the Loginservers Europe and SteamStore went offline. We followed Live at "Steamstat.us". So i guess, Steam is now our main problem.
