krizz kaliko 1 Posted February 1, 2014 Currently I have a AMD FX-4130 Quad-Core Processor, 3813 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s). What would be an upgrade(CPU) that I would average 25-35+ FPS. I have 2 Radeon 7950 GPUs as well.
windies 11 Posted February 1, 2014 probably an i5 or i7, something that overclocks to the 4-4.5ghz range easily.
incontrovertible 13 Posted February 1, 2014 (edited) High clock speed Intel CPU's are really the way to go here, either the i5 4670 or i7 4770. You would only get the i7 if you will also be doing multimedia like Adobe or video editing. There is also a 'k' variant for each CPU allowing you to more easily overclock for a little more cash. Generally said you want a z87 MoBo for that Intel CPU the best bang for your buck being ASRock, with Gigabyte boards being among the most reliable around, while high end Asus boards have a feature called Sonic Radar which displays visually where audio in the game is coming from. I'd say go for the Sandy/Ivy Bridges, the best K-one you can afford and overclock it to the stable maximum. Ivys are a bit notorious for their thermal conductivity, Sandys perform better in that regard, but are of course older architecture, not that it really matters.
