Bipods

Recommended Posts

Now, I know what bipods on MG's are used for. One thing I need to know is how do they stay on the ground. lets say you put down a bipod, does it have little stakes on the end of it to push in the ground? If not, how does it stay on the ground when the operator moves his mg from side to side (by not sliding off)? confused.gif

........................Gravity keeps them on the ground, and they are fixed to the body or stock of the MG

Not all. There are fixed versions but some bipods that I have seen have a rotational axis perpendicular to the barrel.

Well, I should add that it depends on what kind of weapon. Obviously on high power long range weapons (as sniper rifles) the bipod is fixed.

Doesnt the HK-21 pivot on its built-in bipod thing? It does have a bipod, right? The HK-21 IS a gun, right? confused.gif

Or has Jagged Alliance2 led me astray... sad.gif

a machine gun with a bipod isn't exactly light weight, so its own weight will usually hold it down. as for sniper rifles, they aren't spraying on full-auto. the bipod is just for additional stability, and therefore it's essentially the same as resting your arm on a table rather than trying to hold it out in front of you perfectly still
