Ok, for this issue I would suggest checking the following:

Firewall, if you have it, disable it. If that helps, slowly increase your firewall but at the same time checking if what you do affects OFP multiplayer.

If not firewall, check your Network settings, if your computer is configured with 2 LAN cards, one for normal networking and one to connect to your cable modem, try going into network settings and changing the order in which the operating system accesses these network cards.

You would want it to access your cable modem first, LAN second.

To do this, open Network and Dialup Connections folder. Select ADVANCED from the top menu, then Advanced Settings.

Select your cable modem and use the UP arrow button to shift it to the top of the list, this will set your cable modem as the first preference in the list of available network connections. Also while you are in the Network configuration, check your TCP/IP settings, make sure there is nothing weird in there.

Also, since you say that 'we' have cable, if you are using Internet Connection Sharing (ICS), you'll have to turn it off, or use OFP:Resistance's socket implementation. DirectPlay has problems with ICS and other connection-sharing solutions.

Where does he say he's using Directplay? Hmm, ok yeah make sure if you are using Resistance to use Sockets, much better netcode for OFP smile.gif

Sockets is an option you can choose when Creating a new server to host.

He did say that he installed OFP and tried going on-line immediately -- no mention of Resistance. He also said it was months ago, so I think it is safe to say that he's using the DirectPlay code.

To make things a little clearer.. I don't have Resistance yet, still running on version 1.46 ...

I'm currently checking out those advanced settings you mentioned, even though I know there's no second LAN-card.

A really long shot...this is probably not your problem.

If you've "accidentally" installed the Microsoft DirectPlay8.2 patch, the default MP port 2234 will not work any more.

That's why it has changed to 2302 (in Resistance) in later days...

PS. The patch is available at http://www.p3int.com/downloads_NWO.asp,

but DON'T GET IT if you know what I mean. wink.gif

To continue...

My game also hangs on screen "Creating Client". I have Win2000 and cable modem. This is when I use GameSpy.

If I run the game and then choose Multiplayer, I can't see any servers.

Games like UTdemo and Wolfenstein demo works well over the internet.

Help!
