Recommendation for TvT small element modes?

Recommended Posts

The group I play with is having a hard time finding good TvT modes. I've searched around but can't find one that is close to what we are looking for.

-No or limited respawns

-Objective based (capture point/area OR something along those lines)

-Able to be played with small numbers 4v4 or 6v6 type numbers.

You should try tactical battlefield.

www.tacticalbattlefield.net

They currently have 3 game modes, advance and secure, attack and defend & search and destroy.

They also have a medic system similar to ace, suppression, wepon resting and etc.

The mod is meant for 50v50 but there are currently 5+ missions suitable for ~12 players. They constantly update the mod and add new missions to it as well. You can use 3rd party mods(maps, factions and etc) and create your own missions as well.

The missions do have limited tickets but capturing objectives and etc also remove tickets from the opposing team so you may have 5 respawns per player or 15 depending on how the opossing team plays.

Here's a link to the release thread were you can look into the features and etc http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?169645-Tactical-Battlefield-A-PvP-Modification

There's also a in-game help menu that you can access via the map screen

While I enjoy Tactical Battlefield, I would only recommend it with at least 20 players, and preferably 40+. Of course, if there are 20 players on the server and you join with 10 more, it'd be 30 already, and the more players on the server, the more likely more will be willing to join (due to many not being interested in playing it with lower player counts).

You can of course try DTAS, which should also fit your requirements: No respawn, objective capture based with time limit, round based, objective is a simple point objective so high player numbers aren't necessary, total randomization means you don't have to keep making new missions to keep it fresh.

KingScuba's idea is nice if you guys don't play too much and don't really care about balance. Over time though it'd get old and boring or exploit-able and people will stop playing and/or stop making new missions, and you heavily rely on people constantly making new missions.

Thanks for the replies.

I enjoy TacBF but not so sure it fits smaller numbers as well. It also requires a bit of a setup on the server side that is more than just uploading a mission.

galzohar, I think I'll give your game a try. It looks pretty fun and it may be a good fit for what we are looking for.

TacBF should do just fine for your small number TvTs. Just use the tiny missions (T-10/12 etc):

Mission Feedback

Or if they don't suit ur purpose, unpbo and edit them to suit.

The thing with TacBF is that you will get in 1 neat package:

- Easy to use Squad Management system with Fireteams

- Practical Squad Radar (sthudish type of system)

- Handy Squad Ordering and map system

- Neat Role selection system

- Suppression and weapon resting

- Nice first aid system

- etc...

And when the 4vs4 match gets a bit boring you can just join a regular TB server and have two 4 men squads in a larger battle (30+ players) work together (or against each other). You can lock the squads in TB, so if you just want to keep the squad to your team mates, it is possible. A lot of units/clans do just this; They get few mates together, create a squad in a TB server, lock it and go about playing some aspect of the game e.g. infantry, APC, mortars, logistics, recon, defending/attacking etc. Heck if you don't lock the squad, you might get new recruits to your unit/clan if they like playing with you guys.
